ParticipantRe: A Real Bad day at work
Hope you get better soon with no lasting effects.
The static explination is the right one as a local garage to me burned down a couple of years ago when a car on a post lift was having its fuel tank drained into a container that was on the floor and it just exploded this was due to static build up.
all the best for a speedy recovery Richard.Ritch

ParticipantRe: Beware – Fishing Around In The Dark
that is nothing this really had to be seen to be believed on tuesday i went to an elderly couple with an electric cooker which had spiral elements, the lady said that “the front left element that she always used had fallen apart” when i got there i found that the outer part had totally gone and all the insulation too but the main inner element wire was still intact and she “had been using it this way for a few weeks” to say that i was stunned would be an understatement i have never evert seen anything like this and didnt even get a picture as i was so stunned neither she or nor her husband seemed to get how serious this was even when i told them it was live and they must get RCD protection given them a contact number to call and will check on them next week. still cant take this in.

ParticipantRe: Beko giving its first ever problem
quite possibly a dry joint on main pcb (heater relay)
would get an engineer to check it over as not a diy job.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool awm 8143 washing machine
sounds like a motor tacho problem could be as easy as a loose wire to motor a broken wire or just chaffed through if you are going to investigate yourself them make sure that you remove the mains plug as washing machines can kill!! call an engineer if you are not sure.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint EW81 cooker oven fan keeps running
i had one of these a while back and the timer had moved a fraction and shorted the live feed to the chassis as the insulation sleeve on that wire is very short and the wire is very very clse to the chassis, worth a check?

ParticipantRe: Tricity Bendix AW1000W – going to sleep
the large ball you mention is right as for the problem with what you have said it sounds like it could be a heater problem sorry i dont know what the fault code you mention is. hope this might point you in the right direction but remember un plug this appliance if you are going to investigate.

ParticipantRe: LGWD1431RD
may be the door interlock as these machines are prone to leaking despenser draws and this can get water in the interlock.

ParticipantRe: DYSON DC04, Loss of suction………
it is more than likely to be the pre filter if you remove this and take out the blue sponge then hold the yellow holder up to the light you should be able see through it if not then clean until you can or if really bad replace it
