    Yuck! i had a similar problem with a mouse in an old creda dryer fan once only the customer left it for a week before calling us. not nice…

    I have had the same fault, the actuator that opens vent cover had shorted blowing a few tracks on main pcb. expensive!

    It is quite nice to work on. Motor off, tub out and split, pretty standard bearings too if i remember correctly.

    i believe you are correct they are wired differently, however the s512 probably just has a dry joint on the speed control pcb which i think is attatched to the motor casing. hope this helps.

    its resistor r020 on pcb. 0.5w 22 ohms.

    thanks chezza, sadly its in a nice warm kitchen! i have also checked all components and insulation resistance so i guess is probably a pcb fault i would just like to be sure.

    there is a tangential cooling fan at back under top cover, sounds like thats stuck?

    Sounds like the heater but you will need to check insulation to be sure…

    ok, fixed it now, for future reference its r020 on pcb. 0.5w 22 ohms.

    If its out anyway having just been fixed i turn off at spur switch and test from the supressor.
