Thanks for the info Jim
Normally would not bother either, I have to just give a quote on parts as called 5 mths ago replaced bearings only, now they have failed again.
Given them an option also on dealing with HPT direct as under 5 years old. They dont want to go down that line yet, they may want to after pricing all these parts up.
Will have to see tomoro.Steven

ParticipantRe: Currys tech guys cleaning service
IMO, Like other insurance policies with offers attached whether you buy it and get your premium back if not used or have an offer of a clean within a set time scale, they sell them relying on the customer not to claim it.
I have also been offered this work, but turned it down as we are engineers and not here to clean up other peoples crapp. It has not affected the other work given its your choice and your reputation at the end of the day.
As far as i heard washing machines and refrigeration are the easiest, the refrigeration has to be emptied of all food and totally defrosted before you get there a quick spray with a cleaning product and wipe it out.
For the time off and hasell involved the customer could have done that themselves without paying out that amount of money on an insurance policy.
The washing machine is the same as we tell customers to do on a regular basis anyway, all you do is put machine on boil wash with a descale/cleaner wipe down job done.
The cooker is the hardest as we all know grease and crudd everywhere, but again its really just a spray and wipe, what the customer thinks is clean and what you can do in 45mins is not your problem, as I said just your reputation. That said appliances are less than 2 years so should not be that dirty.
All this for around Β£37 labour and includes the chemicles (if you can call them that) just standard off the shelf cleaning products you purchase from connect for up to 45 mins work easy money for those who want it.You have to purchase and ware gloves, goggles and protective apron?

There is some more at the foot of this page that needs reviewed. The primary one being fees and what you all intend to do with them.

Ken when I made a suggestion at the meeting about the calibration testing Lawrence did come up with a suggestion that WTA could fund part or all it βAnyone else got a view on that β
If you like i could put a post up to see if we get any response, I think it was about 25 they could test but would need to clarify that.
This could be a carrott to dangle to see if we can get new recruites to the meeting in September.
I could ask for names if anyone interested first come first serve basis, if it prooves succesful could always lay another one in February at a consessionary rate π‘

ParticipantRe: Prima LPR600 puzzling problem.
Just one suggestion you could try before going to the expense of PCB is clean the heater pressure switch.
As you have only been using 50 degree washes I would expect the grill could be sludged up with fatty deposits.
This is located in the sump it is a black circular grid. Buy a washing machine/ dishwasher descaler, remove the the filter assy and tear open the sachet pour it into the sump area, pour in a kettle of hot water leave for 5-10 minutes then put it on a rinse program, may take a few attempts.
If this works I recommend you use the hotter programes more ofton and use a cleaner every few months.

Why not sign up to: environment agency net regs.
http://www.netregs.gov.uk/netregs/default.aspx … LAH,D2AP,1
I recieve monthly updates from them, but must confess. π³
I MISSED IT β :rolls:
Just did not read it properly, As all it said was do you work with ‘waste’, could mean absolutely anything especially as it had a picture of a skip and a load of rubbish in it.
All appliances we get back are not deemed ‘WASTE’ until we have checked them as we look to recon them.
‘QUOTE FROM EA EMAIL’ New environmental permits now live
Do you need to register a waste exemption? If you work with waste, you need to check if youβre affected by changes to environmental permitting exemptions that came in on 6 April. If your business has an existing registered exemption, you might need to register a new exemption, or apply for an environmental permit. If you havenβt registered an exemption before, you may need to now. Do you need a new exemption or permit?

ParticipantRe: AW23 Locked out?
Yes just spoken to my customer after i made a visit on Saturday to see how machine is.
She also gets it when she turns the dial to the desired program can come up with E54.It can also reset itself, after turning to desired program then setting any extra wash options / rinse options / spin options then press start it just goes back to 0.
I have checked as much as i could when there and never failed for me.
This does not always happen to customer either?
Still poor wash results?
She uses 140ml fairy liquid in draw, occasionally uses conditioner, having to use the intensive / extra rinses to try and improve? She has also occasionally used the delay start for Economy 7, start the program off watch the time count down, but when she gets up in the morning it hasnt started and the counter resets to 0.
π
To eliminate and try a few things I have first of all I have requested she: Changes detergent for now to powder.
Plug the machine in another socket (this is an extension to the original house, i had an ise 2 with weird faults told them to try another socket that cured problem) so see what happens. She is not a happy person, she only had it since feb (supplied by an ex dealer) and really wants an exchange.
Will wait and see what happens

Is this Β£840 a yearly fee or one off for life?
Does this come in to effect for anything after the 6th April?
If you have a stack of appliances awaiting reconing before this date would you still require this license?
If this T11 is required as of now, all the appliances i have waiting to be done are now deemed as scrap, in effect i have paid for those as part exchange allowance or paid out right for a second hand appliance.
Who will compensate for that cost or have i got to write it all off?
EA Quote (The obligation to register exempt operations only applies to organisations such as companies, partnerships, authorities, societies, trusts, clubs, charities or other organisations. Individuals acting in a purely private capacity can still benefit from the exemptions but donβt need to register.)
I notice if you are individual you can ‘benefit from the exemptions’ dont need to register’ means you dont have to cough up Β£840 carry on regardless re-‘conning’ and selling possibly for CASH to the GP no paper trail or tax paid!!
One rule for them and one for us!
Quote ‘can still benefit from the exemptions’ who does this benefit??? only the EA.

ParticipantRe: AW23 Locked out?
I have got one at the moment, complaining that E54 keeps coming up.
Tim, I know i have found with other codes E34 for example just go for the first number as a guide, it sometimes helps. E3.
E5 water problem?
On this one, have checked filling, press chamber, sump, heating pumping, electrical supply seems ok.
I have checked the one I have today with this problem machine will some times start and some times reset back to time?
She has done the reset, but still does it not every time.
I know if you leave your finger too long when starting it can pause it instead but dont think this is the case.I could not get it to fail while i was there typical.
Yet I did notice the water level was not as high as i think it should be?
for example the standard wash water level was the same as the wool and condition rinse program, I thought these would be slightly higher?
I will try and check when i next install one.
Unless anyone knows? This fault also coincendental with her complaint that even if she adds extra rinses her sons echma has come back worse on his back and shoulders suggesting its not rinseing properly and whites are not as clean as should be.
She has always used fairy non bio liquid and powder.
Her sisters have the other versions of the ISE5 they recommended this one to her. While on holiday she used the same detergent in adifferent machine and the results were much improved. So there must be something not quite right.
Have we had any pressure switch problems?

I’ve not dug into it but it would look as though that government are targeting the resellers of refurbished products which will make life a little difficult for those not doing any real volumes of this sort of stuff.
K.
Another load of red tape and money making scheme by the goverment, they are not content with just a weee license they want to add these exemptions as at a cost, suppose they need to get more tax from somewhere to fill the black hole . πΏ
As K said not fair on those who may do just a few, when available and econonmical to do so, now we have to add additional Β£800 into the price. :rolls:
I thought they wanted us to recycle re use more β
Obviously not the case they would rather it be melted down as these appliances are not very environmentally friendly because of the energy and water consumption, despite the fact they have lasted 10 years plus in the first place π
It looks like for the moment no more recons, just add them to the pile of scrap for collection. π₯
Just a question how many of you still actually recon appliances and is this something the WTA needs to look into on how to help / avoid β
