Fully dismantle the sump hose to check for coin and/or a restriction in eco ball valve. If all clear, almost certainly a worn pump – heat and/or foam can cause it to stall

Apologies, that’s an outer band part number. The correct part number fir the inner band is 41028754

The inner spring band on most Hoover/Candy washing machine door seals is virtually impossible to fit on site. I always replaced the band with the older nut and screw style part which Hoover list as the replacement, part number 41018408. Worth carrying as a spare and pricing into the job

My advice, if not already done, submit a parts enquiry to Connect before fitting, unless you have checked the part number is correct on the manufacturer’s parts database

Thanks Dave, ELE006 is an oven element, hence the confusion.

I dismantled Bosch heat pumps less than a handful of times to remove foreign objects, but only when I was.confident the o-ring seals were in good condition. So in principle, renewing just the element is perfectly feasible, although I suspect there are different sizes.

However, the replacement heat pump specified by Bosch to replace many of the heat pumps I came across with premature heater failure had enlarged pump capacity and a modified flow regulator for the sump, presumably due to design flaw in the heat pump originally fitted, so replacement of just the element on these dishwashers would not seem the best solution.

At least the LG one appears to split into two appliance carcases for service. In principle the upfront cost should encourage owners to repair rather than scrap the lot when one of the appliances fails, though in practice they may just scrap anyway and vow never to buy an expensive wash tower again.

What appliance is this? Oven? Tumble dryer? Dishwasher?

Not just a mechanical issue with the button or microswitch?

Typically, several things have to happen before you get paid – the agent has to process your invoice, the tenant may have to confirm the job is satisfactorily completed, the landlord may need to authorise the payment and the tenant has to pay their monthly rent, from which your bill will be paid, when the next payments batch is processed. Ultimately if the money isn’t there because the tenant falls into arrears, the landlord is responsible to pay your invoice.

A hold up in any of these steps can delay your payment, but the agent should have systems in place to manage this, so they should be able to give you a quick answer. 3 unpaid from August may suggest a failure at the first step, perhaps due to someone on holiday?

I’ve not come across that exact behaviour, but from occasional experience of abnormal pump behaviour at the start of the cycle on this dishwasher platform, I too would suspect a pump fault. A bug in the on-board diagnostic software may explain the lack of a fault code, or alternatively suggest a hardware failure on the pcb.

I assume you are aware that the machine is still under the manufacturer’s 2-year guarantee.

As to who makes the new washing machines, retailer photos of the sides and backs reveal exact matches in the shape of the steel pressings between Schoenhaus and Haier and between Sensis and Vestel

Perhaps they figured Schoenhaus may soon become a household name on the back of this rising star:

This retailer is listing and has already apparently sold some Schoenhaus and Sensis models, though currently out of stock:

Given that Fisher & Paykel have been owned by Haier for many years, is it possible they have combined the service support for both brands? I see that Haier (at least in terms of pricing) have moved towards the premium sector, so this would be a logical step. With a combined network, they would be free to livery their vans with whatever branding they chose.

The White Goods Register is run by the White Goods Training Academy, via their rather grandly named Institute of White Goods Engineers. Registration requires a subscription of £50+Vat per year, with the colour of the badge being upgraded after 5 years of trading and again after 10.

There is no detail on requirements for registration, other than the need to have attended an unspecified type of white goods repair training. Attendance on their own 7 day course certianly seems sufficient. The register can investigate complaints (in relation to safety only) and take “sanctions” against registered engineers, but can’t mediate for customers. They don’t check criminal records or check insurance for public liability.

The search facility brings up no registered engineers (or members of the Institute of White Goods Engineers) within 300 miles of my home. So either there are no registered repairers in England and Wales so far, or the website is broken. So all things considered, the benefit overall to consumers appears limited.
