To be honest, I am not sure but I vaguely remember it being like a fairly large white pad type thing which was reputedly able to soak up a few pints of water.

Can you post a photo of the control panel & the sticker on the door with the writing on it please?

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint HM315NI Fridge freezer too cold
Sounds to me as if the sensing point of the thermostat phial has come away from the wet wall evaporator. Not repairable, I’m afraid.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint TCFG 87C condenser tumble dryer
Most likely, the condenser pump is the fault rather than the condenser seal.

Mesh plate, filter or microfilter, pressure switch, circ.motor.
Or in that ballpark, at least.

Do you have the commercial code of the appliance please? It is probably an air chamber built up with fat.

The thermistors should read approx. 3KOhms @ room temp, approx. 9KOhms @ 0oC & approx. 26KOhms @ -20oC. If you get something like this, the thermistors are almost certainly OK. Personally, it sounds possibly as if there is a system issue & if I’m correct it runs on R134a & is approx. 20 years old. If so, I would not personally think it worthwhile to repair.

If the LEDs you refer to are the 1st & 3rd program LEDS counting from left to right, check your filters. If they are OK, most likely you have a blocked air chamber in the sump.

It is either the door lock or motor brushes.

Pressure sensor? Air chamber?

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint SDAL1200P dishwasher heater failures
I’m wondering if perhaps the module may have an issue & is leaving the heater on for longer that it should & the thermal overload is failing. That said, I had one that had repetitive heater failures & it was eventually exchanged by the insurer. The new one had the same issue so I eventually concluded it must have been an external influence(limescale?!) as to have 2 different appliances with the exact same fault must be odds of millions to one against.

Me: “Are there any issues parking my van @ your address?”
Customer: “No.”
You turn up & can only park anywhere within a reasonable distance of the property with a parking permit.
Me: “Do you have a permit?”
Customer: “No.”
Followed by one or a combination of:
“They don’t come around?” “They’ve only come once a day & they left 5 minutes ago” “I don’t drive” “I’ll keep an eye on it” “Parking is your problem, you’ll just have to park further away” “The last engineer left it there”
Me: Bye!

It’s being started in Scotland & is going from there in the forthcoming months. In my opinion, not a great idea but we shall see.
