    Re: Beko wmb 91442 lw

Thanks for taking the time to reply ! I have checked all these things. I think that there is a fault with the electronics in the motor and the machine has just shut down as it senses that there is a circuit fault. There are no fault codes with these, so no indication of where to look. The customer has now purchased a new machine and had the beko taken away.
    Thanks again.

    Regards.

Buy a fibreglass repair kit from your local motor spares store and fibreglass a little patch over the hole either inside or out. Works on both metal and plastic tubs!

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Whilst I am on the subject. Had another one knock my door “My friend says you fix the washing machines” he said quizically.
Cut a long story short again. Went to his house. He had paid someone £50.00. to look at the machine, who told him he needed a new timer. He paid £129.00. for the new timer from Hoover, then paid this other person another £50.00. to fit the timer. The machine still did not work and had been broken for 4 months. Turned out to be the wrong timer. Removed the new timer and put back the old timer, then took a sock out of the sump hose. Machine worked perfect. Spent half hour on the phone to Hoover and managed to get him his money refunded for the timer.
He said “how much do I owe you” I replied “£55.00.” at which he replied “thats a bit much, can’t you do it any cheaper”.

Cut a long story short. One customer I had, upset me. 12 months later came knocking on my front door and asked me to go look at his washer. Told him if I go to his house he has to pay me my labour charge regardless. Went to his house later in the day to find a Servis washing machine about 25 years old but looking like it had just come out of the box. Broken door handle told him £100 (because of what he had done before). It was either that or my labour charge.
To cut the story short again I went and fetched the door catch went back to the house to fit it (had already pocketed the £100) the daughter had been left to deal with me. I asked her how long the machine had been broken and she replied “before I was born” and she was 22.

Faulty or wear and tear ?

Would any of you, as engineers, class a set of prescision made washing machine bearings that have collapsed after 12 months, the machine being used twice a week by a pensioner, as wear and tear or faulty goods ?

    Regards.

Re: Sale of goods act ?

This is happening all over now! If you want your motor insurance on the monthly, the insurance company requires the customer to take out a loan at any thing up to 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the premium, therefore costing twice as much. If your credit rating is not up to scratch, the insurance will be refused.
My friend took out some insurance on a motorbike. the premium was &750.00 and the finance charges were £600.00. He cancelled the insurance after 5 months but the finance company pursued him for months for their charges adding late payment charges and interest of 14000{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. The bill went up to over £1000 over 4 months. He managed to get away with paying them £270.00 after dozens of phone calls. He initially offered to reinstate the direct debit (which the insurance company had cancelled) to pay the original balance but the finance company flatly refused and said that the balance must be made in full.

    Regards.

Re: They started taking it apart

Went to a zanussi w/m last year. The machine was in what you might call a studio flat the washing machine was in a purpose built cupboard in the hall, spur unit at floor level feeding a connection box in the cupboard. The only way to get at the pipework was to pull the machine out, lie across it and stretch over to get at the taps. So I did. so I am lying on top of this machine srtetching over, as soon as I touch the tap I got a 240v shock right up my arm and across my chest. Cut a long story short, they had had a family friend wire the machine to the connection point “L to L” “N to N” “E to L” therefore making the whole body of the machine live. To top it all they had an 18 month old baby crawling about.

I had one some years ago. Fixed his machine after giving him the price, when it came time to pay, He says ” You give bill to government, I no pay, I assylum seeker”. I got paid!
Had Another one who refused to pay, started to take his machine
apart, took the door boot off, then he decided to pay me after his wife intervened. Took the money and still left his machine in bits. Told him if he wanted me to do the job twice, he would have to pay twice.

Had someone phone me and ask me for a price, told him £75, at which he replied “but my friend said he would fix it for £25”.
I replied “well why don’t you get him to fix it then”. His reply “because he doesn’t know how to do it, but could you come round and show him, then he could do it”.

Re: Whats the strangest fault you have come across?

The strangest one I came across was about 25 years ago. A customer called me out to a Zanussi washing machine. Turned out this guy had just done some time at Her Majesties pleasure. He told me that the machine worked perfectly before he went away and that he had left the door ajar to stop the machine from smelling as he knew he was’nt coming back for a while. When he returned he put his washing in, it filled up and overflowed!
Turned out a housefly had flew into the drum, got through one of the holes in the drum, couldn’t get out again and looked for an escape route, crawled up the tube to the pressure switch, got right up to the switch and could get no further, thus blocking the hole to the switch.
I found the fly in the pressure switch with it’s wings tucked back and it’s head jammed against the hole in the pressure switch.
