ParticipantRe: Bosch WFL2062GB – Inner drum out of alignment
Martin,
Thanks for confirming my suspicions.
As this is probably uneconomic to repair given its age are there any suggestions for a not too expensive (£300- £400) replacement?
She just needs something basic and functional that will hopefully keep running for a few years.

They would have – the enzymes are the ‘bio’ bit if I understand correctly.
Knowing how my son suffers, I fully sympathise with you.
We too have an elderly, water supping, machine that I intend to keep alive as long as I can.

Hmm, I’ll have to tell my son’s doctor and Consultant dermatologist about that – both recommended non-bio degergents to help with his extremely common skin condition – eczema.

Not a 2 pin shaver plug!!!Easy there tubafan, we’re not spoiling for an argument here. We’re not talking shavers either. Just trying to help someone out with a simple solution to operating a washing machine from the UK in France without the need to calling an engineer to convert the existing moulded UK 13amp plugtop. Thats all….rest easy! 😀
Sorry Martin – not meaning to argue.
Just that I have only ever seen these adapters advertised as for ‘travel’ use, and the ones I have are certainly rated at 7.5 amps max.
I concede that if you can get a 15 amp rated one then it should be ok.😀

Er, the one you illustrated has the live/neutral holes enlarged to allow shavers to be plugged in. Potentially very dangerous to use that in an unfused state I suggest!!
😀It won’t be ‘unfused’ will it, the appliance plug will contain a 13 amp fuse.
Not a 2 pin shaver plug!!!

These adaptors are for temporary, low power (max about 1500W I believe), use only. Not the one I illustrated mate, that direct unfused adapter is good for whatever supply current and voltage is required up to 15 amperes. And has the correct earth grounding link included within.

No No No!!! :eeek:

If you are going to user appliances permanently then get new plugs fitted and ensure that the circuit (and socket) current rating is ok.😀

Thanks – that’s progress for you I suppose 😉

Don,
Does that mean that you can select a quarter/half etc position between the clicks – if so perhaps I am worrying about nothing!
(Hopefully my last question on the subject 😳 ).

ParticipantRe: Help wanted finding 600mm Slot-in Electric cooker
Don,
Thanks for your help. Any idea why most manufacturers have gone for the ‘clicky’ controls – some cost saving I suspect!
Do they actually work in the same way as the continuosly variable one – ie alter the power-on/power-off duty cycle – or have they got a number of different power outputs?

ParticipantThanks for that nomadPaul.
FYI, the parts fitted were a Plate (Item number 479167), a clip (610504) and an Operating Module (644127).
Assume the operating module contains new firmware to control defrost time etc?

ParticipantCan report that this is not normal behaviour!
BSH engineer came out this morning, and I have had the following report from top management (aka the wife!):-1. Engineer said he was fed up with fixing these!
2. Evaporator frozen at rear (what I suspected).
3. BSH are aware that there are problems with this model and there are now 7 mods applicable (mine had some already).
4. He has carried out all mods – these include increasing defrost cycle time from 20mins to 40mins and adding extra metal parts to ensure that defrost heat does not affect plastic parts. Sorry can’t be more specific – not there to witness repair.
5. New 2 year warranty issued, starting from today.
Has this fixed it – who knows – watch this space!!!! 😯

ParticipantRe: New noisey Bosch KGN34X00G Fridge / freezer
Finally have our replacement fridge-freezer (first replacement was rejected as it arrived damaged).
Compared to the first one it is almost silent most of the time – so if you have one of these and it sounds like a tractor then compain to Bosch!!
Hopefully it will work for more than 3 months without freezing-up like the old one.
I also note that the new one has “/06” after the model number whereas the first one we had was “/02” – don’t know if this is anything to do with the modification level?

ParticipantRe: New noisey Bosch KGN34X00G Fridge / freezer
Bosch engineer has been today.
The freezer evaporator was well frozen-up at the back, but the drain tube had very little ice in it.He was a little reluctant to discuss the drain tube heater mod that has been mentioned here, but did eventually say that this is only applicable if the drain tube is well frozen, which mine was not.
When I asked if he had seen many problems with this model he would only say words to the effect of ‘well, if its made it to an online forum….’. To be fair, I wouldn’t have expected him to badmouth his company’s products.
Anyway, given the symptoms, he is going to arrange for a replacement unit to be delivered.
Lets hope it turns out to be better than this one, or I might have to start quoting ‘Sale of Goods Act’ etc at a few people!!

ParticipantRe: New noisey Bosch KGN34X00G Fridge / freezer
Thanks – Bosch are coming out on Wednesday, and as we haven’t currently got enough room in our other freezer to store all the food during a defrost it’ll have to wait until then.
The manual mentions that this may happen if the freezer door has been left open for a long time, but I know that this hasn’t happened. Anyway, I’d prefer it to be in its ‘broken’ state when the engineer visits!! 😀 -
