BlockedRe: “You must be CORGI registered to work on gas”
I’m aware that customers don’t have to be registered if they are doing work for themselves, but ‘wsts’ refers to “a local fitter is known of by CORGI apparently for working on gas as part of his business while not registered“. Surely that can’t be right? 😕

I may be missing something here, but surely the above quote can’t be correct? Surely Corgi can’t knowingly allow a non registered Engineer to carry on doing gas work? I thought that was prosecution time??

Thankyou Roly for starting this! After 35 mins on hold with BT, I finally get through to try to sort out my quiery…… Only to be given a different number to ring for home deliveries 👿 Yes, it was an 0870! I were on hold for 15 mins and remembered that I saw this post, so hung up, went to the site, input the number…. and there we have it….. a local number! Dialled that, got through within 5 or 6 rings, quiery dealt with straight away 😀 !
The site is now in my fav’s!!!!!

Spot on IMO!
We Indies (repairers, not sales) don’t like them much if we talk truthfully because they would see us get in the sh1t with a repair, waste our time, refund a customer and get a bad name in the process rather than assist us to get the repair done (which is just as much in the customer interest as it is in ours)!
As for employing their own engineers…. how long is that going to last? They are allready trying to turn engineers into franchisies, so in a way, they are also looking to use the self employed to do their work, but without paying tidy amounts! If we would work for £19 per call, we would all have tech info etc too!VillageIdiot2

I didn’t really have the time either, but considering I was under the impression that it was so important that this application was done right first time, I took the call. If there is no high priority needed with this task, then I can chill out when she calls next! 😉
When the COP has been amended on the web, the following will also need to be changed as, technically it is now incorrect:
“Revised edition 2nd September 2005 by UK Whitegoods Advisory Council
Sean Delaney
John McKenzie
Chris Chantrell
Alex Reed”Adrian

I have just had a conversation with Patricia Aloysius from the OFT. She had a couple of questions that she needed answering. I managed to answer all her questions, and I think that the conversation went very well.
The one quiery that she had, was that on our constitution, it says that we have an arbitration scheme, but there is no mention of this in the COP. I have agreed with her that we will get that added today (Ken, one for you if you would be so kind). The outcome is that she is now going to pass our details onwards, and she has stated that we seem to tick all the right boxes so far.
Onwards and upwards a! 😀

Hi guys,
Well, to be blunt, it doesnt really matter whether people take up the offer of a discount or not, that is their prerogative. But, If we can get to a point where we can table a load of discount schemes for members, wouldn’t that be great? If one member took advantage of a discount, regardless of what field it were in, we would have achieved something right there! And if no-one does take advantage of a discount, well, what have we lost?
