Please don’t compare McDonalds to 0800Repair! There is a HUGE difference between the two. Different from the foundation up! If you pass a McDonalds, you know it’s a bonafide McDonalds Franchise. Everything you get is branded. Would you see McDonalds saying to one of their restaurants ‘Hey, you don’t get traffic from ‘X’ Area, so we’ll put a NON PAID UP FRANCHISED McDonalds there to fill the gap? Don’t think so!
McDonalds say ‘This is what we do, if you got the land, passing trade and money, buy in’! Simple!
0800Repair say ‘If you have money, pay us upfront for your van, advertising (Oh I forgot, 0800Repair don’t advertise, they rely on word of mouth) and where we don’t have cover, or where you can’t cover, we’ll use any ‘Tom, Dick or Harry’ as was proven lately by my friend getting work after a phone call 😉
Summary: Martin, get a grip.

Although IMO I am the worst enemy someone can have (As I have no fear of repercussions anymore and quite plainly do not give a flying sh1t who I upset by speaking public as long as what I say is factual), I don’t know enough about SD or his current stature within DASA to kick off such a thread.
If someone were to contact me anonymously with ‘Intel’ or concerns, I’d happily put my name to the ‘Post Author’ to kick it off!

Mike, a ‘*’ after something tells most people with a brain that there’s a catch, so again, most with a brain or who care will look to see what the ‘*’ means. So yeah, if it’s now clearer to the consumer, then job well done 🙂
Regarding the few lines changed on a website comment, that’s all I can say again Mike is that us little guys do have a voice. That is now proven as per changes to the 0800Repair website and the DASA Changes.

TBH, 2011 has been the worst year of my life. I’m looking at things and I find myself having to ‘Regroup’ with myself to keep focus on what’s going on, where it’s going on and how it’s going on.
My enthusiasm for my own business (Appliance wise) has died, so it’s not soley directed at the WTA. I have firmly decided that there is more to life than this…!
I sincerely hope that you lot (My friends) don’t think badly of me for my decision to walk away.

You know what makes me laugh Mike?
A guy phones JTM and asks for work. Within a day he’s receiving jobs. JTM Warranty work and 0800Repair cash jobs. With NO checks on PLI nor any contract signed. THAT IS A FACT.
Also, he’s receiving 0800Repair cash jobs where they do have a ‘Yellow van’ or as you’d say a ‘Branded Engineer’.
So… Are you sure your loyalty is in the right place? As I can assure you what I’ve just said above is factual.
To date, he has about £1400 worth of invoices to JTM. That’s in one month and a bit. So… JTM AKA 0800Repair are that fu**ing keen on consumer service, they employ any fu**er that can do the jobs, regardless of PLI or loyalty, as there are yellow vans around here as you’ve previously agreed 🙂
I rest my case.
I’ve had a ‘Few lines’ changed on a website, you dismiss that as ‘So What’?! I’ll tell you what that means Mike, we do have a voice, as small as it might be compared to the suits that are employed to run our trade! End of!

Unlike who? Who else has Franchisees that DO NOT work for them directly?
Or, is that their way of saying that their engineers are NOT independents as they work for them directly?
I’m just baffled by your status Mike, and the advertising of 0800 (JTM)! You seem to contradict each other left right and center!

Can you please confirm, if a manufacturer or insurance company approached you to work for them for £100 per job, could you accept without issues from 0800Repair? If you answer no, you’re not independent, simple.

Well that says to me that 0800 came out on top cheapest and quickest.So your previous posts about 0800Repair coming top of a Which? survey and us ‘Indies’ being bottom was not true, that was just your interpretation? And do you have SOLID proof of what you’re saying regarding results? Because as I understand it, it was an 0800Repair engineer that missed the cut out 😉
Regarding Ken disregarding you as an Indie, that makes me laugh! You’re not an ‘Indie’ as you don’t have freedom of your own work. As per post above, if some WP offered you silly money to work for them, you’d have to say no! That does not make you an Independent, it makes you an employee with no sick pay, holiday pay and the people you’ve paid for such a flaw, pays no PAYE for you…! Simples!

Nope! (IMO) If they were approached by a WP offering £100 per call, fix or no fix, they’d have to say no as per their contract with 0800Repair as 0800Repair Franchisees ONLY WORK FOR THEM 😉
So to me, that doesn’t make them ‘Independents’, it simply makes them employees that pay their own tax, doesn’t get holiday pay nor sick pay 8)
I’m also curious as to why Mike a few pages ago brags that he’s an ‘Indie’ like us, then slams us as being bottom of the table in his Which? report that as far as I can see, is a few repairers throughout the UK being asked to fix an oven, then progresses to say 77{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of consumers prefer an ‘Independent’ repairer! Doesn’t make sense!
