I think that must be a different link to what MikeDay refers to Martin, as that clearly does not state that 0800Repair came out on top of a customer survey whilst Independents came out bottom as he keeps announcing :rolls:
In fact, I can only see from that survey that 77{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of participants preferred ‘Independent’ Service…?!
Maybe Mike can point us the the right direction?

What I don’t get is if a survey had taken place where 0800Repair came top and ‘Indies’ came bottom (I can’t find it either BTW), any or most questions answered by the consumer in such a survey to favour 0800Repair would have been done so unaware that they were in most cases, Independent sub contractors due to the small percentage of repairs carried out by Franchisees compared to Indies :rolls:
Unless this survey was set up and arranged strictly to compare 0800Repair Franchisee V Independent Repairers :rolls:

Exporting vans? Haha!
I do believe the WELSH flag will be flying above Number 10 on Saturday! And one would hope Peter that you are a red on Saturday 🙂

Well I’m saved by their own contract then a?! As there is a ‘Man in a van’ in my area. 😀
Anyways, there’s about 8 to choose from here butt, and we all know each other, like each other and even drink with each other (On rugby days) so there’s only one man I can think of that would be happy to turn on his own, and as I believe, he was sacked by JTM in June / July this year as he was a rogue. :boops:
Stick 30 Yellow vans in Cardiff and I’ll still survive! Trust me buddy 🙂

BlockedRe: February 2012
Yeah I had that email today Bry. Can I just say…
Because of the hard work of the WTA for Feb meet 2011, we gave an awesome day to all that attended. I was against DASA being invited from the start, but they were and look what’s happened. They’re copying us and trying to out do us and that f**king winds me up. Especially as that DASA Bod stood up in Feb, UN INVITED to stand up and gave a speech on where DASA were at at a WTA Meeting.
It really annoys me, but f**k it, keep friends close and enemies closer a?!
I think Lawrence should go to the DASA Meeting as a WTA Hat, just to show face, some one has to I think. If for no other reason, than to give an accurate feedback on attendees etc.
If Lawrence doesn’t want to go, I’ll go as me, the tw*t from Cardiff that has a mouth too big. Fu*k it, what have I got to lose? I’m not a shirt n Tie man that likes to sniff peoples arses, so I’d be the Nigel Dill to DASA as he was to us. Simples.
I’m ranting… badmoodf**koff.com!

mikeday0800 wrote:there is over 60 yellow vans on the road. Franchises, Employed and sub-contractors (in a van) and it’s growing weekly. So as I said queuing at the door.
Could that be because of a deal they did for a price on quantity over a set period for vans, and because of which, they are offering the vans for free or at a very low cost to sub contractors as they’d be sat in a big car park somewhere gathering cobwebs? :rolls: I dunno like, but it is what I herd.
As for:
mikeday0800 wrote:However if I was a director I would be hell bent on sticking even more vans in your area for payback for the storm you have whipped up.
I don’t think I’ll lose much sleep over that one. Totally impossible without having multiple engineers working the same patch, which according to you, they can’t do as per their agreements with engineers 😉

Mike…
I have no issue with you at all. Why do you take my posts as attacks on you? Jesus Mike, you paid a small fortune to do what you do and I genuinely hope it is all as you say!!! However…
You are NOT 0800Repair!!! You are a Franchisee! So stop talking like a director and accept that I AM NOT having a go at you for anything personally!!!
0800Repair compete with Indies nationally yeah? They also include wording within that advertising that isn’t factually correct or at the least, very misleading yeah? That is my only issue! Simples.

How though Mike?
Take a look below…

Does it not say they don’t advertise much? This gives the consumer the idea that 0800Repair is run mostly by word of mouth? That in turn generates confidence? That in turn generates a phone call or an online booking?
You miss my point completely Mike. I couldn’t give 2 flying sh1ts who wants to work where and what deals anyone might have etc etc etc. What I do care about, is competitors talking bullsh1t to consumers to win their business. That’s unfair and is a double insult when that job is passed back to the guy who possibly lost that job in the first place, but, he ends up with a large fraction less in his pocket, even though by using his rates, would or could have been cheaper to the consumer! Go figure!
Simples.

mikeday0800 wrote: If guys are worried about losing work then maybe looking closer to home will give you the answers you need in being able to keep your work. 0800 would never be able to steel YOUR satisfied customers, could they?
Well, it depends who the trader is 😉
Some rely and live quite happily on a few jobs here n there, mostly by repeat business. However, most I should imagine would like to grow their business or at least create new customers rather than just sit and wait for Mrs Customers washer to break that you repaired 3 years ago last!
Repeat business is very important, but so is generating new. This is where 0800 is a problem. Because of the advertising campaigns (Which BTW they deny advertising on their website to the consumer), indies get cut out. We all know that people look for the top 3 when searching. So, it’s not quality, qualifications, experience or whatever you like to brag that gets new business, it’s simply your ranking on search engines in most cases.
The problem I have with 0800 is this. They want to compete with me for business in my area… Fine. But do it legitimately and advertise honestly. END OF.

BlockedRe: Feb 2012 Workshops/Seminars
Yeah I’d avoid any practical on the meeting day, fair enough if it was a Sat AM session, but for the Friday, IMO we need to keep bums on seats and feet at stands without confusion of what’s going on where if you get me?
If Bryan wants to do some R600 Theory etc, it could be offered at the end of the meeting for those that want to hang about for an hour?

BlockedRe: Feb 2012 Workshops/Seminars
I got the impression that any ‘Practical’ stuff was going to be done on the Saturday morning? Obviously the Friday needs to remain a sole ‘Meet’ which is why I initially said that training would be a no go. As per someone else, when there are presentations going on etc, you need people on seats, not scattered about doing different things.
But, then it was pointed out about training / practical sessions being held on the Saturday morning for those that want to stay back for a few hours. If that is the case, I don’t see the problem?

I hate to say this Martin, but I don’t take what you say regarding the ‘Future’ of this trade very seriously as you’ve indicated more than once you’re about done! I have another 30 years (Godwilling), so we see different roads I think! You tend to be a theatrical person in your posts when to be blunt, 0800Repair are amongst others, the biggest competitors to the ‘Indie’. Simple. Not the guy down the road, not the guy in the next village… But the National companies. Although it is an open market, I simply say, if you’re going to compete with Indies, do it fairly and paint the proper picture, which 0800Repair do NOT do! If you can’t see what’s wrong with 0800Repair advertising false information nationally to win the decision of a consumer, you’re either blind or you just don’t give a sh1t enough to see it!

BlockedRe: 0800 Repair
To try and put a quick ‘end’ to the DASA Thread that is starting here, my input is this, some people might assume or think that DASA is an ‘old boys club’ because of their experiences within DASA as a previous member, or just by the fact that a TA was formed to represent the ‘Independent’ but now welcomes manufacturers / work providers on to their council. Obviously, this means that at some point, the Manufacturers / work providers have a say or ‘Input’ in to a TA that represents, or is supposed to the independent. I personally don’t get that TBH, especially as all or most ‘Indies’ on the council could work for the manufacturers or WP’s (As a sub contractor) sat with them at Council meets. Would that not encourage votes by fear? Not fear as in death or sentencing, but fear or losing work or exclusivity if they fight something the Manufacturer or WP want? But hey, I don’t get a lot of things…!
Obviously, UKW Admin read this, so it might be worth starting a thread on DASA, ‘Peoples Opinions’ as after all, we’re all here as trade members and all here with the comfort of freedom of speech. It’s obvious some people might not favour DASA, but I’m sure there are other Independents that do, so in a thread which is dedicated to DASA, they might post or ‘Speak up’ which would help against the feeling that DASA is a dying TA.
Regarding this thread, (Back to 0800Repair), the ASA are obviously taking their time over the complaint(s) as they’ve stated a delay and a requirement for further investigation in to 0800Repairs advertising. I guess they see it’s a bit of a web, given the different sites, different rules and different truths or lies per site or advertisement, but at least they’re looking 🙂
