possible update on the file setting as reprogramming the board tends to cure the fault now

ParticipantRe: British Gas 0800
Heard their parts department are trying to sell off their white goods parts back to suppliers like Electrolux, Samsung, Beko etc. Doesn’t look good for the White Goods guys 🙁

ParticipantRe: appliance fires
Be interesting to see how difficult a foamed in sensor change will be or an internal joint repair with a metal backed fridge freezer 🙁

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint f/f xag95ti
the baffle in the fridge will be stuck shut. The part comes as part of the complete duct and is not available as a separate item. If you undo the panel and push the baffle , it sometimes frees up and starts working. can be jammed due to frozen condensation. You should hear the baffle opening and closing when you open the fridge door

ParticipantRe: Indesit company engineers, please can you help!
Hi Guys, not sure what it will be like in your area but CRM for me is brilliant, time allowed to do the job and for travel. Enjoy the training.

ParticipantRe: Brighthouse not very bright.
They employ their own white and brown goods engineers, know a few ex Comet lads who went to them

ParticipantRe: CURRYS KNOW HOW
I know one of the trainers, Mal Dawes. He’s a top bloke and knows his stuff. An excellent teacher and very patient. He was based down in Aldershot for a while teaching personnel leaving the armed forces on how to fix white goods.

ParticipantRe: Anyone here work for KnowHow?
I know a few of the ex Comet guys who work for them including one who works on Technical in Manchester depot and one who’s the trainer in the UK. They seem to be doing alright, not heard any complaints so far. Don’t think the wages are up to much though.

ParticipantRe: test for solid hotplate
Had a similar problem with a stoves range cooker a few years back. When I spoke to the tech in the labs in Prescot, he said the test was a measured pint of water in a pan of a similar diam as the ring should come to boil within 4 minutes

Exactly the same as what Comet tried and it failed. The engineers hated it because the call center staff thought they knew how to fix appliances. We used to get sent out with pre diagnosed parts that never fixed the fault. Also used to get all the cheap Chinese built crap and even appliances picked up from the tip and scrap yards. The customers used to think they could get them fixed. Shooting themselves in the foot with this one :rolls:

ParticipantRe: cannot win!
Had similar when working for Comet in Liverpool. Went to a Delonghi Dual Fuel Range with a blown element (screwed through the back). The steel legs had been buried in 2 inches of concrete and the customer kicked off big time when I wouldn’t ( couldn’t ) remove the appliance. Always wondered what happened to it 😆

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM72
had one about a month ago do this. customer said it started to fill after it had finished. actually started filling in front of me as I was just about to walk out of the door. solenoid valve kicked in for a few seconds and then stopped then started pulsing. then the appliance kicked into the last program.
boiled down to the user board ribbon cable had faint cracks on the joints and verdigris on the copper strips. it was causing a short on the signal to the module. the appliance was written off as the part is obsolete in Peterborough stores at Hotpoint -
