ParticipantRe: self employed
Just Like Chris said, word of mouth. I have recently left a business of which I was a partner of. It has been established for 34 years and I was there for 18 years. It has a massive customer base; Most of which I have built up. After my lack of enthusiasm with the retail side of it, my business partner offered to buy me out and I snapped his hand off! I have no regret, but it is very hard starting out alone. I have left my client base with my old business. The phone rarely rings and advertising costs a fortune! We have done leaflet drops (that have been good). I have also included a photo of myself on the leaflet in hope people would recognise me from it. I don’t regret my move in any way, even if I have to get a part time job to pay the mortgage, I will continue my business. Its bound to be hard at first. My advice is to add as many strings to your bow as possible, if your competent and you have plenty of experience contact the estate agents and try and get in as an agent with a manufacturer perhaps to keep the money coming in. My advice also, be careful with advertising, donโt sign up to long term contracts, it sometimes pays to swing your advertising round in different areas!
Hope that helps, I’m struggling, but isn’t everyone at the moment?
Regards,

No, fitting carbon brushes to the old hotpoint washing machines without a removable top (purple door). Those used to wind me up!

I think the old vented one used to be the long funnel. the condensor one had the red insert in it and a short funnel..
Don’t know which I like the most.. The hoovers or the Zanussi Washer Dryer door seal.May 28, 2008 at 10:44 pm in reply to: A Tricky Job? – Whats the hardest repair you have done? #253188whiskeyjack6058

Hey, this is a trade forum ๐ surely we have the right to complain… But only when the cheque bounces can we complain to the customer!
At the end of the day, if it’s paying, I love it!

Hi, yes I did re-set the program. Forgot to mention that customer said on the phone that it’s leaving its conditioner, but when I looked at this, it was very blocked up, unless it’s never getting to that part of the cycle.

I have had a look at the tech notes on this one and realised that it’s not the machine with the evil sump and dispensor hoses. That is the Siltal version, this one you have is a Fagor one. I couldn’t see anything in there what relates to the fault you have mentiones but I would pluck a guess at a sump or drain hose blockage perhaps. Does it give any error code?

for gods sake dont remove the sump hose from the tub what ever you do or you’ll regret it!. There is a support gromit in the sump hose and dispensor hose also Complete B*****d to put back in place!
