ParticipantRe: teba gas cooker model number tfg21
Its a gas regulation though and if working to the letter of the law then it is required, besides how would you know where the shaded area is for the connection point at the rear of the cooker, there are some gas cookers that state connection points must not be in certain areas…. thats why its a reg.
Plus even more importantly this may be for a landlords property where it is required by Law
What action is required?
1. Ensure instruction books are available at the property for all gas appliances.

Why do you need the manual for the installation ?the manual is not required to instal the cooker if it is installed as required by an CORGI engineer.
BryanActually it is part of the requirements and a by rights a CORGI registered fitter should refuse to install without the instruction book as its in the regs, of course though, hardly any would refuse in the real world.

Hmm, arent Cannon really Indesit, and Belling really Beko these days?Does the Cannon really feel that much better than the Belling? I’ll probably end up going to see them before buying online, but i’d like to get some information from a few boffins here first, rather than listening to some sales assistant drival!
Do the Belling cookers have a tinny sound to them these days then?
Yes Yes and Yes πOn a slightly more serious note the Cannon build is better than the Belling by a country mile.
We trawled the shops with our daughter as we can`t hold all the cookers we would like to in the shop and she was of the same opinion as us with the quality of the Cannon.
Just as a by the way, Hotpoint and Creda are part of the same group as well but the build is different on all three, with Cannon out in front in our opinion.
HTH
DonNearly right, 500mm bellings are beko, 550 and 600mm belling cookers are stoves builds.
I am with you though the Cannon is a better buy at the moment, till the 600mm ones are assembled elsewhere.

ParticipantIt cant fire on just one hob its just that you would only have noticed it firing on the one at first, possible damp/sticking connection, worked on alot of these hobs in the past, sometimes they stop themselves sometimes it needs a new generator (the switch and generator are 1 unit) its not a diy job esp. due to the construction of these hobs so its up to you what to do next, can be a costly repair on these though so get proper quotations before committing.

Presumably if i just keep the window shut when the gas hob is on it would be ok.An openable window may be a requirment re- ventilation of appliance.
π Consult the user manual βGregIn the gas regs an openable window is always a requirement…. but it doesnt have to be open, otherwise they would ask for permanent ventilation.

ParticipantThere is no regulation to say you cant have a cooker in front of a window, obviously there if for curtains behind it though, are you having the 90 with the glass lid ?

ParticipantNO !!!
I spent 5 years working for Rangemaster then 5 years at stoves and I would take a 10 year old Rangemaster over a brand new Stoves any day of the week, so you can imagine how highly I would think of a second hand Stoves Newhome cooker.
If you want to go down the second hand route then you at least need to buy a decent built cooker.

Anyway now know I could have a smaller oven,90cm wide, rather than the 110.Think we want all gas.,and ideally one with a glass lid.
I am confused on the Rangemaster website because when you select gas ranges,it still selects some that have electric fan ovens. Can anyone tell me which ones are all gas,90cm and maybe have a glass lid too?,In the 90cm range the tall side oven will always be an electric fan oven, its not all bad though because its a very good oven and you still only need a 3 pin plug to run it on the gas version.
For all gas with a glass lid you will need to look at the rangemaster 110, you can also get the 90 with a glass lid but will have to have the side oven electric as stated before though.

I thought you were saying it was lit but when you let go of the control knob the gas went out.
Correct (on the remaining burners that are igniting), but, as petalpop pointed out, this is due to a safety thermocouple, something I’ve not encountered on a hob before.
Sorry for the confusion – I don’t blame you!If it lights then goes out when you let go do as I said in my last post, remove the control knob… turn on and light the gas while keeping the gas tap shaft pushed down…. hold down for 5-10 seconds and see if it remains lit.

ParticipantThere isnt a factory shop for Rangemaster, but you could go for black it looks great in any kitchen.

To do that involved disconnecting the short bayonet gas pipe and he insisted that simply disconnecting that pipe meant by definition that the supply had been interrupted. And that in order to comply with the rules laid down by ACS and Corgi, once the gas is reconnected he must check for leaks using a manometer before the customer signs the job docket! His company do it as matter of course to all the various type of appliances they service before the job is complete. π―That is not correct, all you should do (and this is stated in the regulations) is simply leak test the fitting with leak detection fluid, at no point is a tightness test asked for, same when you fit a gas passing part on an appliance. Disconnecting a bayonet is not classed as interrupting the supply as it is a self sealing fitting.

mike_jw wrote:On that one particular burner there’s no spark whatsoever. It’s a combined inner & outer burner, the small inner one works fine but it’s the larger outer one where the spark is absent.
We had a similar occurence with out previous Stoves hob. After a number of years the spark on one burner failed. My son took off the cap and the diffuser, unscrewed something, gave it a wipe, and it worked ever since.I thought you were saying it was lit but when you let go of the control knob the gas went out.

ParticipantPull off the control knob in question and push down on the shaft directly to light the burner, push in ignite and hold for 5-10 seconds, if it doesnt stay lit you will require an engineer, if it does stay lit then come back.
ps. One last thing is the burner lighting all the way round and evenly compared to the others ?
