Thanks, I am just not able to find out if that one is rated for 16A? Instead of that, may I use the one I mentioned below?
I found several thermostats at ukwhitegoods shop. Unfortunately, it is difficult to know exactly what are the specifications or what is the text on them. 🙁 the model list is perhaps helpful to people who has those models but having the text on thermostats online would help my situation…
1700441 – Creda & Hotpoint Tumble Dryer Thermostat
http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Tumble+D … ostat.html
The texts on this one looks exactly the same as the one I have (at least on the lower side which is visible in the photo). I think this one is the one I am looking for? At least if the image is genuinely from the product?I checked the thermostats with multimeter and only one of them was not working properly at room temperature. I dont remember if it was the brown or black one but if I make it 60/60 instead of 60/70, perhaps the extra power program wont heat more than 60 only? (which is not a big deal). Anyway we shall see 🙂
Thanks,

Sorry, my mistake siwatherm plus 5801. Not sure at this moment the machine is at my friend’s place).
I am looking at the thermostats at the front of the machine. It is a block with 2 elements. It looks like this (but I dont need the whole block…):
http://www.hgt24.de/shop/temperaturbegr … -1256.htmlMy best guess is that the brown/red one is 70 black one is 60 degrees with exact same text on them (or other way around…)

K.Do you want me to copy/paste it to this forum? I am updating it as I have more information/findings about the machine. However, if you want, you can (or I can) copy/paste it here.
I am copy/pasting its current version to this post. You can do anything you want with it. I have nothing against any of you guys getting/modifying/publishing the text.
LG Steam Washer WD-14376FD is one of the newest models of LG washer series sold in europe. It is very similar to the TROMM trade name used by LG in other parts of the world. LG is using different numbering schemes for model numbers in different countries. But it is easy to recognise this machine from its picture even.
The machine in this review was bought for 799€ on March 2008 which was considerably cheaper than other brands with similar features. One of the best of these features is the 8kg capacity. With that huge drum, it is possible to fit a king size duvet inside. 1400RPM speed is a moderate speed however there is not so big difference between 1400RPM and 1600RPM according to manuals, only few percents of difference in humidity levels of the laundry.
It is easy to see the lengths LG went at the design of this machine, it surely looks amazing wherever one puts it. The controls of the machine are easy to use, just switch to whatever program you want and press play (yes there is a play/pause button). I have seen on several other washers in which one should go through several menus to set the desired settings.
However there are several cosmetic problems in the interface. For starters, the machine has a large LCD display however it mostly shows what is already appearent. While washing/rinsing etc. the display shows the preset RPM speed setting, temperature setting, number of rinses set, time left, the current operation (washing/rinsing etc.), door lock status, child lock status as well as a nice animation. What is interesting is almost all these information is redundant. One can see the preset program, preset temperature, preset rinse method and spin speed from the leds on front panel. The thing I wonder is why put such a large LCD display and not show the current water temperature, current water level current spin speed and direction etc. live. The conclusion is that the LCD display is a pretty eye candy. But not that functional after all.
LG’s Direct Drive engine is indeed very silent. As a matter of fact, it makes no sounds at all. However the machine is not so silent while operating. This is mostly due to water spray system of the machine. The engine which circulates the water inside the machine create much more noise than the main engine. This is also true for the drain pump at spin cycles however the machine pulsates the drain pump making it work in short bursts while spinning. As well as the machine is not very stable whie spinning, this might be due to wooden floor that this machine is located on however it is half the weight as well as half the price of a similar Miele washing machine (At the time of this writing the maximum capacity of a Miele was 6kg)
The washing performance of the machine is pretty good, clothes get clean in almost any program. The negative thing about the washing programs is that the quick 30 program is only for less than 2 kg laundry when washed 30degrees or cold and spinned at 400rpm. This makes quick wash program more or less useless. Why would you want to wash your clothes with quick program but spend even longer time drying because you used only 400rpm. As well as the cotton program can take more than 4 hours if 90degrees, medic rinse and 5 rinses used.
Medic rinse is one of the interesting features of this machine. The manual and the display gives wrong information by saying ‘provides an additional rinse’, however what it does is to warm the rinse water to 40 degrees to dissolve to detergent better while rinsing.
It is possible to enter the programming menu for the remote laundry monitor by pressing intensive and medic rinse buttons. The home code clear text will appear. however european models of this machine does not have the remote laundry monitor modem so this doesnt do much. It is as well possible to enter to diagnostics mode by pressing steam wash and temp buttons when the machine is closed and press power button, then release all. One can then go through diagnostic actions by pressing the play button. I cant be responsible if you break your machine while playing with this, please use on your own risk.
To wrap it up, the machine is not washing very fast, the steam wash is not making miracles and how the display has been used is slightly disappointing.
However, overall performance of the machine is quite satisfactory for the price paid. My feeling is that you actually get more than what you payed for.
BUGS: (Yes, nowadays washing machines obviously have bugs too)
* When setting up a program, if you press ‘Steam Wash’ button, the rinse settings reset to ‘Normal’ and you have to set them back again.

One more question, do I get a tracking number or acknowledgement when the items are shipped?

We will see how long that will last 🙂Thank you so much Evren for your nice comments and I am thrilled that you have chose the LG Steam Washer. A machine so technologically advanced and built I’m sure our association with you will continue for many years to come. We have a team of LG experts on this site so help will be close to hand should you, in the very unlikely circumstances, have any problems with your machine? 😉
All the best !
Thanks Martin, long time no see 🙂 I will let you guys know when it gets broken… I was thinking of putting a short review as well. It is definitely not a perfect machine… there are few things which can be improved. I will try to write up a nice review later after I use the machine a little bit…
However, I do not exactly understand why a digital machine would be more likely to fail? I do not have a lot of experience with washing machines but if we were to be talking about computers, the less moving parts is always better. Nowadays, digital parts of systems are rated for over 30-50 years (even sometimes 300years) of lifetime. The electronics of today is much more reliable than electronics of 10-15 years ago.
Anyway, have to run now, but I will be back 😉
Thanks,

ParticipantRe: candy alise 105 changing bearings
I just wanted to come back and thank for all the help 🙂 this machine has been retired after working almost 3 more years since the repair and about an average of 400 cycles a year I guess(eh didnt count really), but again the bearings failed, weird stuff is that it cant be water damage, the outer bearing was slightly damaged and it was dry around there.
Anyway, it really doesnt matter, as this machine has been replaced by an LG WD-14376FD steam washer. We will see how long that will last 🙂
Again, thanks for all the help and putting up a great forum, keep up the good work.
Thanks,

Martin yes, it is usally dark here in winter so we sleep most of the time 🙂
Zaff, it was really difficult to open it up. It was glued with hard white silicon or what do you call it gasket glue?
We tried to remove it first with heat blower, I dont know if it helped at all, but it made a nice burning smell 🙂 and the silicon/glue was somehow boiling inside I think. After much effort, I gave the screwdriver to my friend who breaks everything she touches as I felt that I was too gently to open it up. Indeed she pried it open 🙂
Once it is open things are much easier if your bearings are not stuck. We also tried several methods but the most successfulone was to use a 3500 rpm ?grinder? with a cutting head and cut the bearings.
We used sealed bearings from SKF their seals have good water resistance. I dont know if it helps or not but seemed like a good idea.
Thanks,
EvrenBy the way, it still works.

ParticipantHi all, just came to check up how things are going here 🙂
With the new timer and bearings, the machine has been working for a year now. I would like to thank all of you for your comments, tips and advices.
The machine is used almost daily and some days 3 times a day. (lots of dirty clothes :p) I think I can consider this as a success.
Thanks again,

ParticipantMartin wrote: 💡 Sticking dispenser linkage perhaps?
Well, I know it is the timer. It kind of has been my guinea pig. I had to open it several times to pieces and put back, because it took 5-6 tries to find out exactly what sticks best inside the timer. However I think it wasnt designed for opening/closing that many times. So it doesnt turn right position sometimes and goes few mm extra, but when I move it by hand a bit backwards then things start working normally again 🙂

Participantkwatt wrote:we often don’t know whether the part is right or wrong till we have it physically in our hands. And, should the spare be modified, it’s not entirely unusual for us not to be told, sometimes we are simply expected to guess or work it out.
Good innit? 😉
K.Yes, but if the part is wrong when you physically get it, you wouldnt send it to your customer right? or if that happens that the part is different but uk whitegoods didnt realize it. Then you would accept a return of an unused part, right? I have made very detailed pictures of the timer itself. Anyhow, I think I have to take the risk… 🙂 Thanks for the warning though…

ParticipantIIRC those timers have been modified Evren, hence my comment about fires and, if they have then the number won’t tie on the actual spare itself.
That doesnt make any sense. How can one know which part he/she is ordering if all the part numbers are modified and now they have different meanings?
But cant one see from the database the type number 2000/2008-3163
while ordering the part?So what you are saying is that if I order the timer with that part number, it wont be the same or compatible with the one I have now?
Thanks,

92745272 is the part number for this programme timer, and it is over £100, plus VAT, plus P+P.quote]
Is it possible to be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure about this part number? I found the number from:
http://www.rei-components.com/commerce/ … odotto=147
According to the picture from the side of the timer:
http://master.titol.fi/~yurtesen/CIMG0706.JPG
It says Type 2000/2008-3163
So the part number should be right, isnt it? (Although the picture in the site is different, it seems like a generic picture so…)Evren
