Y’all do know that ASW (Appliance Spares Warehouse) is wholly owned and operated by Qualtex don’t you?
Just as are a number of others including many on Amazon and Ebay.
Ditto, CDSL, HTM and Maddocks. They all do it and unless you really know what you’re looking at I’d guess many haven’t a clue who they’re actually buying from.
Rebranding, gotta love it! 😕

those who have had their accounts closed might be interested in a thread in the WTA forum.

Thank’s Dave, however there maybe individuals/ companies that we may not even hear from so I wonder how accurate this list might be, only time will tell.

It does seem to be a very small number of people that are affected.
Purely by chance a Qualtex rep popped in yesterday and he didn’t know much about it but did say that of his customers which is the whole of Scotland at least, there was only two or three affected that he knew of that were still trading.

I think the reps probably know more than they are letting on, when I spoke to someone they were aware I was one of those on the list.
Interestingly I have been back through previous years accounts and found that my last order with Homespares was back in 2011 so I gave them a call and found that my account is still active and hasn’t been closed down, so I beg the question if they are not bothered how many orders I make why should Qualtex.
They are aware of the steps that Qualtex have taken against some account holders and seem quite happy to help those affected.

Had the same letter – Apparently it was supposed to be shutting down DIRECT DELIVERY account only i.e. orders delivered direct to my customers. My trade account is still good.
Might be worth double checking? We use H.T Maddocks a lot to be honest and although the stock holding isn’t as good the prices on some parts are unbelievably better. I’m pretty confident they don’t have a retail site either.

Interesting, what trading name do they use on these sites Ken?

Multiple usually.
They’re pretty much all on both of those channels as well as their own web presence.

Well, true to their word, my Qualtex account login was barred on 3 January. Just as well I paid off my credit balance before Christmas, so I don’t need to see my online statement.
I’m a little sad to see them go after all these years, without the opportunity to say goodbye. Maybe I’ll do business with them again one day if they’d care to get in touch…

After years of doing business with them and the way they have treated myself and other long standing trade customers I will never do business with them or associated /linked companies again.
I’ve resurrected my old account with Maddocks after many years of not using them and have been welcomed back, all this rubbish from Qualtex about not spending enough with them is utter cr** as far as I’m concerned.

Had the same letter at the start of December, to be honest I have not spent much with them in the last year and found out that what I did need was bought cheaper from them on ebay.
Makes no sense really to have a credit trade account when you can buy it cheaper online and pay by card at the same time.January 5, 2017 at 3:11 pm #443564kwatt

To be fair, a number of the guys buy from us for that reason as it’s so competitive online these days.
Plus we’ll scan everyone and get stuff as cheap as possible usually as we’ve accounts with almost all of the suppliers, including some you guys would probably rarely or even never use. There again, if it’s one off purchases or once in a blue moon it’s hardly worth holding accounts with them all.
Then there’s the hassle and time factor of searching through wads of stuff to find a part that sure, you may well save a fair bit on but, you may well not and in some cases () with some suppliers not comparing can cost you a damned fortune.
Many of the online stores you see are little more than retail fronts for suppliers, certainly the dominant ones tend to be so you are limited in choice and price all too often.
Just saying… up to you to check it.
