He has an option to do a home based NVQ lvl2 If I remember to build the knowledge base as I have all the documents and test sheets that the trainers have and he can purchase the book to do it for about £25 and if he can show he has a knowledge base my local training centre has advised that they would look at allowing in and then carry out approx 2 weeks training and then exams that take another week. So in theory he could do it in approx 6 months at a reasonable cost if you look at the benefits. The problem is that a lot of engineers won’t take the time off for training as they say they will lose money.. The more knowledge you have the more work you will receive and over a period you gain the respect of the manufacturers and work providers.. ( me excepted..As some say i’m too blunt and to the point but I still get the work ).

get him to become gas safe registered and he’ll get plenty of work,A gas safe engineer will always be priority over a standard engineer on the tier basis.

Most likely cause on this model is either the defrost heater plug is not fully pushed in or that the heater is duff or thermal fuse or defrost sensor.

The trip goes for a reason and that is for your safety !!
You will need an engineer as it could be the heater,compressor or board failure.

Qualtex dont recognise it either and wouldn’t know what size ect until it came in and wouldn’t know about pattern ect.

What model is the unit ?? If the fridge is on top of the freezer then it looks like it maybe that the defrost heater that MAYBE behind the liner is shorting out.
My recommendation would be turn the appliance off and unplug until it has been checked out.
