Re: electra awm900b eco no h/w, making tap water putrid

    ok.

    Thanks everyone for replying.

Are there any sources of information that will give me a good idea of how to check for general faults like the valve failing etc. ?

I guess what I’m asking is, can I take it apart myself. Or should I pay a ‘Professional’ to do the problem shooting. Given that I’m a fairly confident layman. The machine is not under warranty and fees will be involved.

Also : If the washing machine itself has nothing to with the problem… why does it only occur when the inlet valve is open?

    *scratch head*

Re: electra awm900b eco no h/w, making tap water putrid

My Landlord is away currently and I don’t know how to check, but the building seems relatively modern. (in construction/materials). As far as I can tell. It is not lead piping.

The hoses are fairly new. I replaced them, when the ones I had used in the previous house weren’t taking the thread of the new houses valves.

(But I’ve run the Machine a few times with just cold water, it doesn’t seem to change in the intensity of putridity (( is that a word?)) and the pipes themselves don’t seem to smell)

The Pollution first occured when I turned off the Mains (via the outside Mains water tap) to plug the WM in. I would have suggested that this was the problem. Stagnating water etc. Except I’ve let it run since turning the WM valves off and it returns to normal. Then when Valve is open, water instantly turns putrid again.

I think there may be a link between the fact that no hot water is getting through and the foul taste/smell. But I’m no expert. You guys will know better.

Re: Locating of Fuse in a Homark Colonial Oven

You will find that the fan oven element has failed in the oven if you are trying to use the fan oven setting, the thermostat will be ok due to you being able to use conventional oven, the fuse stated will be the main fuse in the plug which you can disregard as the oven is funtioning in some way.

the element willbe available from dave conway or the on line shop

Is that sink tap direct from the mains and do you have a good water pressure? Or is it fed off your house ‘Header Tank’ in which case the pressure will be an issue here 😕

    Martin

The kitchen taps have a lot of force to them.

and the cold tap is straight from mains.

also. When I smell the washing machine inlet valves, the hot valve smells fine. The Cold valve smells putrid. Like TCP with a metallic twang.

    any ideas?

Re: electra awm900b eco no h/w, making tap water putrid

I have two supplies. Red Pipe, blue pipe. Standard deal.

Connected to cold water/Hot water pipes (which then go on to be the supply for my kitchen sink).

When the cold water inlet is open (the bit that opens the connection between the water pipe and WM inlet pipe) somehow the washing machine is backwashing, causing the water pipe to provide putrid water to my kitchen tap.

The hot water pipe is (as far as I have tested) providing hot water as far as the inlet valve at the washing machine.

    hope this clarifies

The counter weight does work if used in conjunction with new feet….two types of feet though, 1 for concrete and 1 for wood, the real floor that is not a laminate false floor.

We do several with new shocks, they’ve been modified too, and we also have been to one where the suspension pin bracket?holes had worn oval shaped, causing the vibration.

    Hi
Bosch machines are good, if your budget allows, get a Miele and you will never look back.

There’s not much to check, one blue wire connected. Is there a test i can do on the probe?
might be better to fit a new probe as well, how much do they cost? Still think there’s something I’m missing…..is it possible to burn out the element because the water pump runs Continuously.

    Re: brandt co20fw

Had a couple of these that….fire up as you lower the pcb assembly from the roof.
Undo the screw and lower the front end of the light/pcb unit with power on, if it fires up there’s a broken wire/connector somewhere, not a £70.00 pcb.

The other point on this model is to remember to remove the round peice of plastic that looks like a disc and not to reassemble this part when fitting a standard stat else you will havea too cold temprature problem.

this disc is the one at the very rear of the themostat capillary fixing.

    Spot on, forgot about that

Penguin45 wrote:The root of your problem will almost certainly lie in the “side panel” or matrix as this directly affects fill functions. Very occasionally you get lucky and can blast it clear with a garden hose, but generally replacement is the only long term solution.

Your machine is a Zanussi in a posh frock BTW – had you searched there you will find this problem quite regularly!

    Regards,
    Penguin45.

Thanks for the advice, I will have to try and find a supplier for a panel or just bite the bullet and call ‘Service Force’ who Electrolux recommend. I have Emailed a few spare parts suppliers but one did not stock them and the other said they don’t supply goods overseas ! P.S I live in Stafford, England!
