Re: Fleet Policy – Low Cost Vans

ok…as we are chatting on this lets expand the thread and the interest..

My Vito @ 27500 miles has had one service at the main dealers, £99.00…yeah thats what it cost. No breakdowns, no punctures, no parts at all, no tyres, just oil and water. The service took 2 hours and I had the vehicle back. Its coming up to 16 months old now and due a 30,000 mile service, it might need something I suppose but it works so well, I don’t know what?

    So lets hear yours.

I also have 2 connects and a transit that are excellent too, all are LX with air con and cd ect(i spoil my engineers) with a lowly citreon trailing in last place(1.9d) which has a dicky power steering pump(guess what £500.00 for a new one, pump that is), be glad when I trade it in as its also the worst for MPG.

Re: Fleet Policy – Low Cost Vans

    Speaking only for me….
I would not touch Citroen Vans again ever. To say the service support was crap is putting it mildly. When the fuel pump failed(2.0 HDI engined Berlingo at 25,000 miles) it took them 5 weeks to get one making the 100,000 mile free parts guarantee totally worthless as no loan vehicle was available…ever. Oh and it broke down again within 2 days and then took 2 weeks to repair due to staff issues.

As there are so many of us, we probably can post bad reports about all makes….or can we?

My current vehicle (a Vito) has done 27500 miles on its front tyres and they ain’t done yet by a long way. Lasted longer than a french fuel pump and don’t cost £800.00 a throw.

The idea is great….would like to read other views on this, as we would also be able to do a deal on the finance factoring if the support is there.

    Slow down Martin.

We have plans and we are putting things into place. UKW does not have a “network” as such, remember this is a “free” service to trade members(if they qualify as a repairer) and not a repair network. UKW is providing a link to supply quality repairs to members, who if we can increase our membership will increase our coverage 😉

As and when we can unveil a little more….we will. There’s plenty more to come, but one step at a time, as we reveal more so our readers become more informed, and not all our readers will want to read about our progress. So leave us to it, please. I and Ken and Dave will be happy to bring all of you up to date, as much as we can, on the Saturday meeting which as you have said several times is for repairers only.

    thanks

    Re: Freezer still not sorted

He did put his phone number on his piece of paper as a reference number and he did verbally say this motor had a 12 months guarantee. The freezer does not have a make listed on it. It is one MFI put in their kitchens but the motor was an Electrolux. He hasn’t replace it with an Electrolux motor. I will let you know if he gets in touch or arrives to finish the work. Thank you.

    Re: AEG SANTO Fridge Freezer

Some of the r600 gassed ones suffer from compressor fatigue….not enough puff! Have changed 2 in 5 weeks for this both less than 18 months old. System runs at -0.1 bar and never moves.

    New compressor sorts it.

There is also an issue with the temp sensors for the fridge compartment which gives a very similar fault condition. Can’t tell you much more, you need to system connect to eliminate the system.

    Re: Freezer still not sorted

    Hi,
he charged you enough to make a good profit and to ensure he should guarantee his work for 12 months.

You should also always insist on a proper itemised bill showing materials, labour and VAT(if charged). This should also have his business name and address and telephone contact details on it.
A compressor change on one of these in the house is no mean feat….tricky at best, lifting the cabinet away ect..it would take me about 90 minutes start to finish to do this, he has priced accordingly(with some to spare).

Please keep us informed if he phones to explain his absence today.

    Re: Freezer still not sorted

He gave me a receipt but it was not on headed notepaper. He just asked me for a piece of paper. His name was on his overalls and his van was sign written so I didn’t have any reason to think he was not reputable. He was supposed to be bringing a new motor with him today encase this one was faulty. He asked for us to make sure the freezer was out from under the work surface so we had no reason to think he would not arrive. I have not had a phone call to say why he hasn’t turned up so I am beginning to think this is a lost cause. While he was here all he kept saying was that the work was taking him a lot longer than he had thought and that he would not be making any money from this work. The cost was one hundred and seventy five pounds.

    Re: LG Dishwasher Error 1

E1 error..now thats one that even LG cant even give advise on.. 😈

there is several points to check for this error

1st the micro switch at the bottom of the sump
2nd the main pump is normally seized stopping this microswitch from activating.
    3rd heater element or overload.

these are the normal faults on the range of LG dishwashers,i learnt the hard way after LG’s tech “”quote” I dont know ,what do you want me to do about it “quote” 🙄

    hope this helps

Re: Replacement glass for philips series 90 built in Oven –

    Hi Dave

Well the glass arrived, and it fits perfectly. But,, (there’s always a but!)

The new glass has two 8mm fixing holes in it. This oven door fixes with clamps at the side of the glass however. Is it safe to use with the holes, or should I blank off the holes with (say) a flat head bold and nut as it would have if it were fixed thought the holes?)

    Re: PRIORITIES What’s yours?

With us ..its first come first served into the areas we are working that day. We cover the whole area on a 2 day basis with the extremes on 3 day. As we have loads of work and are usually booking two days in advance for the majority and filling gaps for the minority, it all works for us. No need to prioritise further than that.

As we have been recognised with awards for our service, it seems to work for us.
