    Re: Merloni

I can tell you CDSL are talking to someone at this time and have been for a while. They did the Merloni bid 6 months ago and will take this nesn thing as an ace in their hand, given that i know that CDSL bid was for 2 years with parts distribution as well with tech back up and training along with £37.50 per call …well you can bet the deal just got stronger from a CDSL point of view. To top this I really do (know)think they are some way into negotiations with Gias, cant confirm it is gias yet but Im positive theres a deal not very far away. (November)
So if this deal goes through Merloni won’t be able to go to CDSL. I also know CDSL have several companies on hold on the understanding that when the capacity in the CDSL network can cope then negotiations will start.
As always keep stum or my info will dry up….it comes from the very top and we need this advantage, shhhhh.

    Re: AEG vs Miele

I don’t use anything but non-bio detergent. Exactly which one I use depends on whether there’s any special offers on, but generally it is Persil (occasionally Ariel/Fairy). I don’t care for Surcare, as I feel it doesn’t clean well.

The water is in the ‘very soft’ category (SE Scotland), but I don’t remember what the exact hardness is. I generally use as little detergent as I can to get things clean – and prefer powder to tablets or liquid. As for softener, I don’t generally use that either, just occasionally for things like sofa covers or curtains really.

Having said all that, is there anything else I really ought to consider? As you might have guessed, I’m not fond of making decisions when there seems to be so little between the options!

    Re: Merloni

I for one am happy to say to you all that I will not be doing any of the merloni work…direct.

However if it was to come to me through CDSL in the future, I will, because of the safeguards that I know will be in the deal. If it were offered through another source I not so sure, it would require in depth scrutiny to ensure guarantees are in place.

We in the waroom are in a brilliant position to control the work out there. We have secure communication, instant reporting, common ground, we don’t sit on each others areas meaning we can work together without fallout. We all also ask for fair reward for our labours….so lets unite quietly and discuss offers openly and collectively promote each other.
Kwatt can list the waroom members in a seperate sticky at the top of the page so you all know whos who. A common theme should be raising our renumeration for what we already do, not on the back of improved admin/engineering.

your thoughts please….in another thread Ken(you can shift the relevent part of this.)

    Re: Ocean APM6825 from MFI

    Hi all,

I have similar prob to Clint – a Zanussi zfc56/38ff.
The fridge compartment is “warm”, the freezer is at “fridge” temp.
Sounds like both the fan + compressor are working.
It’s a frost-free, but the freezer is getting big ice build-up on back unit where I think the defrost heater is situated.
Could a failure of “de-frost heater” element cause this???

    Grateful for any suggestions,

    Re: AEG vs Miele

    Thanks Dave 🙂

Dave_Conway wrote:Very little I doubt as far as water usage and economy go, why the concern over extra rinses may I ask ?

That’s an easy one to answer – a couple of members of the family have sensitive skin, and we live in an area with very soft water. Even machines that rinse well on a normal cycle need an extra rinse or two round here!

Dave_Conway wrote:Yep, both virtually identical. The AEG may have extra functions for the consumer, possibly more economical (see the energy label).

Ah… right. I don’t think there’s an awful lot in it, really. Apart from AEG cheating slightly on the wash cycle they use for testing and only having it do two rinses (or so I found out when a salesman pointed it out in the instruction book!)…

Dave_Conway wrote:Nope, not at all. Miele manufacture all their own components, they also guarantee the appliance for 10 years in many cases.

I’m not biased by the way as I have nothing to gain at all from recommending Miele, mainly because they don’t go wrong too often 😉
    🙂

I’d like a Miele, but I really meant stretching *my* budget a little – especially for the 10 year guarantee ones. I’ll be having another look over the weekend and hopefully deciding and purchasing. Any last bits of help would be appreciated!

    Re: AEG vs Miele

Thanks for the help so far guys…

I’ve read the specs, and I see both the AEG and Miele have extra rinses, what is the difference? I’m a little confused about it.

Also, if AEG and Zanussi are the same machines, is there any reason to buy the AEG over the Zanussi – other than deciding which one looks nicer? Both are reliable makes aren’t they?

Having had a poke at the machines in stores, it would appear that the AEG and Zanussi are identical. The Mieles are certainly nice machines, but I think they’d maybe be pushing the budget a little too much…

    Cheers,
    J

Re: zanussi washing machine skipping program

I’ve got the exact same machine and have had error codes and programs not operating as they should from time to time. As a service engineer for photocopiers I decided to try my hand at fixing the problems myself with great success.

Firstly, check that all the obvious stuff is ok, like door, filter, pipes etc.

Then switch the machine on with the orange button while holding the Start and Skip buttons. The display will show the usual 3 dashes then you will hear a beep and the led’s will turn on and off in some sort of test mode. Press the Fabrics button repeatedly (the leds will scroll through Fabrics, then Temperature, etc, etc) till the display shows Exx (the x’s are usually a number). Then withe the E number in the display, press the Start (or Skip, can’t remember) button and this should clear the E code. Then switch off.

Switch on holding the 2 buttons again, but this time release the buttons when the 3 dashes appear and all should be well. Don’t worry if the machine displays EE0, beeps and starts a wash cycle, just switch off and try again.

It does seem that this model has random software lock-ups from time to time, and so far I have managed to get the machine operating perfectly by just resetting the E code. I hope it works for you too.

    Regards

    Re: AEG vs Miele

Thanks Dave – any thoughts on the dryer?

Also… this might seem like a silly question, but any idea actually how deep the 74800 is? The AEG website doesn’t seem to agree with itself, or with other sites… it’s very confusing!

    Any other thoughts?

Ah, another random question. Can you program extra rinses/higher water level into both machines?

    Martin,

Ive done as uve said and the pump impeller located in the recess seems to turn both ways quite freely, although there was quite abit of water that flowed when i undid the screw plug, could this possibly mean that there mite be a blockage in the chamber that runs horrizontaly up to this plug??

We have had the same letter K,

Parts had been sent out incorrectly in the past or jobs cancelled so we returned them. They then proceed to deduct 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} for returned parts even though no fault of ours. I raised debit notes against their account after weekly asking for credits. All was well until 11 minths later I have received the same type of letter.
