    Re: MFI

So today we get 2 calls passed, and then open to post to find a pile of invoices and a statement, which promptly got returned to them.

Then we get an e-mail asking us to cancel an order we had placed back in Sept regards a job, we already have the parts so I assume they are managing without us. Have left several messages on Mark Ridlers phone, no reply.

I cover home laundry, dishwashers and electric cooking and will be doing a fair bit of admin as well so is £18k reasonable?

My god you are out of touch, or should I say your prospective employer is! I don’t know how the cost of living index works where you are, but I would not dream of offering such a small figure, and then 15 days holiday. Add to that this is a fairly laid back part of the world. Your’e better off carrying on and supplementing your income in B&Q or a Garden Centre a couple of days a week.

Min wage for my guys with your skill sets happens to be around £24k. The top earner this fiscal year should gross £26k with bonuses. Add to that they get 5 weeks (25-days) holiday plus a pension scheme and sick pay. Next time there is a wage review I ought to print out your posting.

Yeah, but if they vanish, so will the product and their reputation. Chance to get in there & offer a replacement product sooner than you think.

Read into that what you will but I’m not laying odds on MFI as we know it surviving the week.

    K.

They won’t if collectively everyone pulls together & refuses to do any more.

The way I look at it; if there are a few empty promises from them, there is a chance some of those repairers who are owed a lot may well fall for it hoping that they can still be an agent, and perhaps make up for it in the long term. That never happens, and the sooner MFI implode the better.

We need to get the message out there though.

They tried to pass a call earlier today by phone in the normal manner, and we advised no can do, so the operative slammed the phone down.

10 mins later, we received a fax, so have politely sent it back to them.

Who do they think they are trying to kid?

Of course it’s not guaranteed, there would be nothing in place to cover the debts as left by the previous administration.

They tried to pass a call today by phone, we politely told them we could not oblige under current circumstances, and they slammed the phone down. We are refusing to sign for goods, and we have told all their customers in our system we are not able to call and complete the work.

I just hope there is nobody daft enough out there to take them on their word.

Following the problems in the sub-prime lending market in America and the run on HBOS in the UK , uncertainty has now hit Japan .

In the last 7 hours Origami Bank has folded, Sumo Bank has gone belly up and Bonsai Bank announced plans to cut some of its branches.

Yesterday, it was announced that Karaoke Bank is up for sale and will likely go for a song, while today shares in Kamikaze Bank were suspended after they nose-dived.

Samurai Bank is soldiering on following sharp cutbacks, Ninja Bank is reported to have taken a hit, but they remain in the black. Furthermore, 500 staff at Karate Bank got the chop and analysts report that there is something fishy going on at Sushi Bank where it is feared that staff may get a raw deal.

Surely they have worked out though as long as they keep us in the dark, the less chance there is of us doing any of their work.

Yes they have their own engineers, but there is too much work plus a backlog to contend with on their own.

I imagine most of us have them on stop.

Jim Frow assured me this morning we will all get paid within a week, as soon as the money is released.

Spoke to Emma in D&G who tells me, that there is only a delay due to the changeover of management, the money is there, just waiting to be released.

In both cases, why did we get the letter from Kroll?

We have phoned all the MFI customers in our system, advising we are unable to call except on a pay & claim basis, and we are refusing to accept parcels from MFI.

    Re: MFI Turmoil

I was told the computers were down on Weds, transpired their phones were cut off by BT as nearly £1M was outstanding.

Everything looked as per normal on Friday, as were getting calls again, which we didn’t action. We also had e-mails & phone calls from W.G.C. regards the recent jobs where we had failed to contact customers, which we then told MFI we were unable to do for operational reasons.

The last time I was let down was by Powerhouse, and we sent all customers a letter & invoice for full amount advising them to seek re-imbursement from the administrators. We followed it up with letters from a debt collection agency, and all of them paid.

I don’t think speaking to anyone on Monday will solve anything, after all I was assured by Mark Ridler on Thursday that all was well, and then this!

    Re: MFI Turmoil

All the insurance work we have traditionally billed the ins co direct; except AIG, they owed back to April, made loads of excuses and even sent unsigned cheques. They have been on stop for some time. The only ones I trust are D&G.

Since the beginning of last week we didn’t book an MFI call, we have kept them on a back burner, and yesterday we advised all those who were not booked to contact MFI. We have parts as received on other calls, and we shall offer a visit to the customer to complete the work as long as the customer pays up up front on a C/Card.

When you are accounting for any possible losses, don’t forget to factor in those invoices they say they paid, but never quite hit your bank account, I had 2 lots that were dated 23rd Sept.

As regards engineers, surely they saw the writing on the wall? I know there is an engineer in my area, but I don’t know who he is. Despite the situation and slow down, I’m still looking for the right person for the top of my area.

If they look into plundering mine, they will think someone beat them to it.

Flippancy aside, it could be frozen if the bank decide to “look after it” for a while, but would be short term.
