Are you sure it is programmed for your model?

Yes, it is not very factual to refer to all Bosch machines as cheap nasty Chinese built, as not all Bosch machines are… My apologies for that…

    Re: Washing machine dillema (Bosch)

I personally prefer a well refurbished secondhand Bosch of reliable German build rather than the modern cheap nasty Chinese built sealed drum Bosch machines of current.

As for the dirty laundry issue.. that is the same as using a laundrette whilst your washer is being repaired.. Likewise, when repairing these machines, your hands go into the same places if not closer to where the dirty laundry has been Martin. So rather than slagging the refurbished machine that is better for the environment etc.. just don’t make the comment.

Then you get one from a reputable repair shop.. I could guarantee any Bosch appliance I have repaired for 3 years if I wanted to.

I already have appliances out there that have 2 year warrantees on them and I have no fear that they will come back my way for repair.

    Re: Waste Carriers Licence

I would need to check with the appropriate body, but, as far as I am aware that is a different matter that does not require a T11 as when you are buying a raw machine for repairation with new parts you are buying a product, not waste.

squadman wrote:As a afterthought, if a retailer regularly has machines on display for sale clearly marked as refurbished is not the T11 then required ?

Not really… If you dismantle a waste machine to repair another machine or salvage the parts from the waste machine then the T11 is required…

If you get a machine donated for repair and you repair it with new parts then the T11 is not required…

Refurbishing machines may not necessarily mean thaat the machines were broken in the first instance… if you have a fully working appliance and the door rubber is a bit mouldy then you may wish to replace the door rubber.. That machine after the replacement of the door seal is then classed as part refurbished.

Hi Andy, I wasn’t saying that it was a council house I was saying it would be worse to an extreme if it were. The fact that it is that way in the first instance is severe enough… But if it were a council house then that infers that the culprit would made the mistake was a trained council electrician.

Would make me wonder if it was wired that way in every socket, how it managed to get that way… Especially if it was a council house.

    Re: oven fan motor earth

The fan body holds an earth terminal for cookers that the motor fits that have an earth lead.
Generally, the earth terminal and respective lead are used on ovens with a ceramic coated body to ensure a good earth.
On ovens that are not coated with ceramics the earth terminal need not be used as the body of the motor is bolted to a steel body and has sufficient earthing.

    Re: electrical safety testing ?

You may not be qualified, but your equipment is. Notify the respective body, or the customer, meanwhile including in your report the type of equipment that showed the negative readings.

Yesterday whilst repairing a washing machine for an estate company, I got a shock when removing a washer from its housing. When I used my tester on the socket it showed a reverse polarity. When I reported it along with the type of equipment that took the reading the company sent out an electrician within 30 mins.

The safety of your customers is imperative to good relations and future work from that customer.
