“repair charges from £74.95 .. the very well used ‘from’ word.

I wonder how many clients would sit back and think.

“This appliance is flucked after 16 months, I wonder if it was built to only last this long so that they can sell me a repair to replace the sh*t parts they put in this machine in the first place”.

Any chance I can get a look at this software?

I know for sure I am not gonna be able to afford this but at least I can then keep it in mind for the future.

Check that the two wires for the thermistor connector are not trapped in the rear access panel

Maybe it is a wiring extension and crossover at the same time and if that is the case then if your wiring loom is long enough then just alter the wires… However, they may have also altered the plug/socket.

Can you explain further what the problem was – presuming you are saying there was an earth fault on the neutral – caused by what? – and why would it start to work and then stop ?

One of the wires (Neutral) had a break (intermitant connection) inside the insulation…
We only found the problem by doing a resistance check on the wires leading to the PCB

This sounds like a neutral problem that I had with a Zanussi model recently… Have you done a resistance test on the supply wires to the module?

Cras wrote:delivered a new washer today took there old machine away the only fault was a slightly moldy door seal as i see it i now break the law if i change it before selling or as its working ok can i sell it then change it after delivery under warranty 😕 Cras

Technically it is waste.. However, if the customer made a gift of the old machine to you as a working machine or faulty machine with a view to refurbishment you could take it without needing a Waste Carriers Licence…

If you change the rubber before you sell the machine then you would need a T11.

    1. You could sell the machine as a fully working machine with a guarantee. (Not advisable as this infringes trading laws if you knowingly sell a machine as fully working whilst being aware of faults – Risk of damaging your reputation too. )
    2. You could sell it as a faulty machine to someone who wishes to repair it.
    3. You could sell it as a faulty machine at a discounted rate and have the customer book a repair / service.

2 & 3 are legal options but you would need to seriously look at your options and the way they would affect your business.

Ok .. This is a bit off the track of the conversation but is relevent to the “Daylight Robbery” statement and the thought that Currys may need as much work as possible:

A month or two ago I left a fridge outside my shop .. it was a Haier fridge, so by no equivilent would it come close to being one of the best of fridges… I came in to work at around 8:30 on that morning I think .. As I approached work I noticed a Currys wagon of the 3½ – 4 tonne type turning at the lights past me…. I thought to myself that they were out a little early for our area.. Anyway.. I got to my shop and found that the fridge had gone.. The electrician from a few doors away came over and told me that a Currys wagon had just been to my shop and taken the fridge that was outside the door and left pretty quickly… Mind you the was also a scrap washing machine out there too, yet they didn’t take that..

So there you have it… Needless to say the Police are involved now and I told the Police to deal with it as they see fit. They have decided to treat it as theft.

The question has to be … WHY? .. Is the company making large amounts from fridges or something?

Now on the other side of the coin… I went to Currys Chester to ask if I could buy the machines that come back from customers… I was told:

NO!.. We either repair them, Use them to repairs our fault ones, or Send them back to our warehouse down south.

    Food for thought

Another good point to be put forward… They have already admitted that it is a minefield trying to police the pikeys.
