From the symptoms that you describe it appears that one of the two relays used to reverse the motor direction is faulty (bad contact).

Because the microcontroller does not receive a signal from the tachometer on the motor during this period it aborts the program and gives an error code + knob rotation.

Should’nt be a problem for a man in your line of work to solder two new relays onto the module. The two relays are those who’s pins are directly linked to each other (usually RL2 & RL3).

:zap: Don’t forget to PULL THE MAINS PLUG before removing the module from the machine :zap:

I have tried holding the select button whilst switching on but no luck.

If this is not the reset proceedure could you please instruct me otherwise.

    Thanks Andy

    Re: PCB Repairs

Yep, QER are OK but they can be a little long winded occasionally if you send a module for repair (if they do not have stock).

Also, always make sure that you check out the new price first as they can be cheaper than QER sometimes or so little difference that you might as well go for new.

    eg. Indesit EM13SF – QER £19.50 +VAT OR SEME £19.72 + VAT New!

I had this fault once and it was a break in a very narrow track on the edge of the PCB.

Re: indesit evolution we16 error code -h20

H20 is a fill timeout error (has not filled in the designated time)

If the machine is emptying whilst filling chances are that you drain hose is too low down. Make sure that the drain hose has a point that is at least 2 – 3 inches higher than the highest water level in the machine.

Rocker if this is a six that uses the motorised selector switch have a look at my thread here:-

Re: Info on the Hoover Six multiposition switch

At around £15 + VAT these are not a fortune to replace but having said that they are quite easy to repair too as they come apart easily. There are a few plastic clips to spring to gain access. The wiper is a small copper contact that bridges two circular tracks, one being continuous and the other segmented. As long as the wiper has’nt broken it is easily re- bent / shaped to make a satisfactory contact.

Re: Info on the Hoover Six multiposition switch

To test these:- The connector has five pads, the two outer pads 1 & 7 on one side of the board connect to the timer advance motor and should show a resistance of about 6K5 ohms.

On the other side of the board are three inner pads. The middle of these is common and a resistance should be measured between this pad and either of the outer pads. This resistance will vary as the knob is rotated, one side increasing the other decreasing.

    Hope you find this useful.

Re: What do you love about this job ?

As i read through these postings (with my hanky out) I thought it is a pity that they are not on the public forum. I think a large proportion of the public would be amazed to read the real motives of most of you guys when the perceived motive is often so different ie. money grabbing cowboys just out to make a fast buck.

Sadly this perception is sometimes correct, and due to the much publicised antics of what is probably a small minority white goods repairers have a tarnished reputation.

Having said that, I am sure that UKWG is doing much to correct this situation as the public see a willingness to help them repair their appliances for no reward other than the satisfaction of ‘helping someone out’. Brilliant, but mystifying to many i suspect!

    Re: Unsuccessful Repairs

Usually I ask the customer if the machine was working OK up to the present fault and that there were no other problems before ordering and fitting an expensive part.

If another underlying fault does manifest itself which they had omitted to tell you about then you do have some come back, although obviously this does not cover all circumstances.

    Re: Tax question

Forgot to mention – certain vehicles having low CO2 emissions qualify for a higher first year allowance (i think 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) also some other I.C.T. items are eligable for a 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} FYA.

If your vehicle is business asset then ALL expenses tax, MOT, insurance, repairs/mainainance, spare parts, running costs etc can be offset against tax, subject of course to the deduction of a proportion from the total if also used for private motoring.

    Re: Tax question

Yep – 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} / year, but unless things have changed recently there is no three year limit. As long as the asset remains in the business you can continue to claim the 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} / annum on the decreasing value.

When the asset is disposed of any difference in the capital allowances account value and the actual value realised (if any) is taken care of by a balancing adjustment on that years accounts.

In the case of a shared business / private vehicle any allowances are reduced by the proportion allocated to private use.

In the earlier post i refered to the balance sheet value but this actually should reflect the true depreciated value of the asset and may not be the same as the value shown in the capital allowances account.

eg. the asset may depreciate by more than 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} / year so the true value would be less than seen on the capital allowances account.

Tinhips wrote:Assuming you are self employed, as opposed to a limited company, you are better to borrow the money off a third party, could be wife/partner, so long as they are not directors, as any of your own money paid into your business, will be seen by inland revenue as income and attract tax.

Make an agreement between yourselves in writting. You can then show the repayments as an out going in your accounts.

    Hope this helps.

This is not actually true. Tax is only payable on any profits generated by the business. Any cash (or other asset) that you put into the business is treated as an injection of capital, and is the inverse of drawing capital out (drawings). As long as you can account for the source of the cash there is no problem, if you suddenly produce £5000 in cash Mr taxman might want to know where it came from eg. have you been stuffing the mattress with undeclared earnings.

Any vehicle (including a car) that you declare as an asset of your business will show in your balance sheet and is eligable for full capital allowance and 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} tax deductable expenses if used solely for the business. If it is your only vehicle then a proportion (agreed between you and the tax man) will be allocated to private use. This is across the board and even affects the capital allowance, as well as all running expenses. (I claim 15{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} private)

    Re: AAAAAaaaaarrrrgggghhh!!!!!!!Zanussi door seal.

Many of us will have had customers who have bought these seals and then spent three days trying to put them on. This is the job that is guaranteed to reduce a grown man to tears. They always have difficulty believing you when you tell them that you will come out and fit it, and then regard you as superhuman when you pop it on in ten minutes.

Its the washing up liquid that turns a virtually impossible job into an easy job. Re: the spring – the tissue is a good idea but small pieces of wood slightly tapered to jam between the spring and the block is better!
