Good letter Ken!! Will it generate a reply? If so, post it up. Could be interesting. 😉

    Re: Constitution

If the intention is ‘One engineer, One vote’; is that to include every engineer of each of the larger companies? Or will it be each large company gets a single vote? To be fair to the larger firms, the latter may not fully represent their workforce and could be dictated by company obligations to WPs or the like. To be inclusive, the former seems the only way.
As long as internal company politics don’t distort the results.
Otherwise the constitution looks pretty comprehensive and well structured.

:rotfl: Excellent…. I’ll try that!! I didn’t want to be rude to the lady caller but that statement seems to fit the bill perfectly. :violent:

Thanks for that, Ken! (and Alex, of course!!!)

I am being relentlessly chased on both my office phone and my mobile by these characters. 😈 😈
This is an organisation who purports to promote me as a good honest trader, so why don’t they understand that they were recommended to me as well.
The difference is – I don’t have to pay my customers to recommend me.
I am avoiding their calls……… :innocent:

Anyone else had dealings with them? Are they usually this persistent?

This is a great opportunity to make a difference to our future and secure the credibility of this trade.
    I’m in. 😉

Re: UKW Subs Funding – the future?

The problem will manifest itself when the HSE or the government wields the stick. Then the trade will be running around trying to get the necessary qualifications/paperwork or approvals to continue working.
Think of the electricians and the Part P fiasco. Everyone needed to qualify immediately; no spaces at college. Legislation comes into force and you can’t work until you comply. This is the only big stick that worries me.
Clive is right, but I can see Ken’s point of view. DASA in effect, was the carrot. After all, I admit that I at first held the view that my prospects would improve if I joined them.
Maybe the lack of ‘stick’ in the past has bred a sense of apathy and a feeling of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ mentality in this trade.
But the distinct probability of government regulation (sooner or later) could catch us unprepared. And possibly out of a job. :hitfan:
And as sure as sheep need a sheep dog, we have to round up the flock and point it in the right direction. UKW is living proof that working together is in everyone’s interest and the TA should be promoted as such. Anyone using this site could only agree with that. Money spent on advancing this plan is worthwhile IMO.

I repaired a DeDietrich machine with this part fitted a while back; but I can’t find that model number anywhere. I’m sure this machine is a Smeg in party dress.

    Help!!!! 😀

Been to a Irish lady today called “Mrs. Perpetua Hollywood”. I kid you not!!
I love it when customers tell you their name and then, without prompting, immediately spell it out or justify its pronunciation or origin. 😀

She should do a name swap with Victoria Beckham……. 😉

Thanks Graham. This particular machine doesn’t have a flap as the airbox is used solely as an airbreak and not a water metering system. I know the style you mean; I’ve heard they need a good rodding from time to time! :innocent:

    Cheers,

Every communication fault I have ever had was cured by removing the facia, unplugging the PCB and cleaning the edge connector with fine emery. Then squeeze the plug gently with pliers and refit.
If that fails, then Baron is right. New PCB. 🙁

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

    Re: Diplomat 8242 integrated dishwasher.

Thanks very much everyone – I am going to try that default reset (thanks Mark!! 😀 ).
And if that fails, new PCB time!!! (thanks Oldtog!! 😀 )

    Steve.

P.S. Do you think that the ‘default reset’ procedure should be posted in the ‘Known error codes’ thread, Mark? Could be very useful to others. 😉

    Re: Diplomat 8242 integrated dishwasher.

Circulation pump turns freely – I took the front hose off to check. I’ll have to try resetting it again – more wasted time on a piece of junk. :rolls:

    Cheers anyway, guys!!
Any other suggestions (not involving the use of a sledge hammer) gratefully recieved.

    Steve.
