    Re: candy suspension

I’ve seen wear in the top pivot pins before. Knocked badly. Swapped for new pins – all sorted. This also works when the tub pivot holes are worn. The sheet metal suspension units can bind when worn causing a knock; take off one end and push / pull test for resistance.
On Candy / Hoover machines check the drum pulley – the “D” on the drum shaft can round out the centre hole so they can clonk; sometimes they are quite loose, even had the belt fall off as the pulley bolt was so loose.

    Hope that helps!

Martin wrote:Holes in the stainless tubs ARE easily repaired using ‘steel putty’ such as Quiksteel. However, and has been said in many such threads on the subject, for a permanent resolve it needs applying on both sides of the tub. Therefore to do a ‘proper job’ (as they say in Dorset 😉 ) you’ll need to lift the tub out. 😀

Except if you repair both sides of the usual area they rot through (around the rim of the filter pressing) then the filter won’t fit properly…… and ill fitting dishwasher filters are the fools’ road to ruin.
Be sure you are not that fool….. 😉

Re: Zanussi FL-881 (914789090) Fast Spin Problem

The pulley has cylindrical weights in it that are pushed outwards by centrifugal force and squeeze the belt outwards making the motor pulley in effect bigger. The change in ratio between the motor and drum pulley gives the fast spin.
Take the belt off and put it on spin. As soon as the motor goes into spin the pulley should close up. The weights can get stiff or they can wear a ridge in the slot they slide across over the years or if the wrong belt is fitted or old one is excessively worn.
You can lubricate the pulley with WD40 and ‘collapse’ the pulley by hand to free it off. Most times this will work but if the belts OK and the pulley moves, then there is wear in the weights and their angled slots so sadly new motor.

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

    Re: leaking bosch dishwasher

Sounds like a salt grain hole in the edge of the sump pressing. Usual place is somewhere along the ridge where the flat square filter sits into the base of the stainless tub. Caused by overfilled salt pot and salt is left to wash away (usually when the customer rarely cleans the filter and admits to using salt and getting it everywhere). The grains can stick between the filter and base and like car bodywork on salty roads just slowly rot through. The machine will usually leak when it gets hot and usually on the left side of the filter. The water can then run underneath the sound deadening bitumen layer and leak anywhere – look around the leak area for soft or discoloured bitumen bubbles or cracks.
Take the filter out and look carefully round the filter ridge for pock marks (dull pitting) in the stainless. It will be possible to push a pin straight through the pock mark in the stainless – there’s your leak.
Unfortunately not repairable unless it’s on a flat spot and you can get a small brass nut and bolt in after widening the hole.

    Hope that helps!

I had one doing this on fill. Filled, stopped for a minute or so and then refilled again; on, off, on, off, until it flooded the base. It was as if the module got 30 seconds into fill then reset and started again. Tried module and flowmeter in fact metered everything and all OK. No leaks anywhere. It was doing my head in. Turned out to be broken door wires. I’ve since had several Beko’s with door wire issues – all with slightly different problems but all were intermittent stop start faults.
    Who’da thunk?

Fitted it this afternoon like for like…. removing the plug and wiring it in. The spur is controlled by a two pole main switch and supplied through a separate RCD box I had not seen in the adjacent cupboard. So all good!

    Thanks for the replies!

Usually door lock if it is the instantaneous type. Have you checked the brushes and looked to see if the childproof lock is active?

The lamp should be activated by one of the contacts of the selector switch. The jolt of the short has probably tack welded the switch points together. You may be able to separate them with a very small screwdriver but if not, 615186 is the part number @ £27ish. (retail).

    Hope that helps!

Same as everything else, but more like fitting a washer drier boot because of the large ‘bulge’ at the top of the gasket. The gasket is shaped as such due to the drum and door are slightly out of line to each other. Make sure the location marks line up though, don’t just go by the drain holes being at six o’clock.

Cut ‘ n ‘ paste from the wisdom known as Tim Downing……

(re: buttons pressed to reset BSH)

    “That’s why then…
If reset is carried out more than 5 times before brushes are replaced then reset must be carried out 3 times after brush change with a different set of finger prints, its in the manual. 😉 “

    Strange but actually true…..

Re: HOTPOINT WMFUG942P SMART Washing Machine

Off balance load or too small a load.
Machine will hold the wash countdown until it is happy the load is evenly distributed. This is why it happens sporadically. Watch next time it does it and you will notice the drum slowing and changing direction until the load is balanced.
Unfortunately one of the problems associated with modern large load machines – they need to get the load correct or the tub will hit the sides of the cabinet as there is very little wiggle room in the cabinet space available. You could check the filter isn’t blocked – behind the kick plate.
So not a fault as such but a pain for sure.

    Hope that helps!
