Re: Qualtex discount scheme for WTA.

Yes, I was thinking that a fixed {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} is the better route, otherwise we will have another Connect pricing situation. The only stumbling block with that is special order stuff – even retail is sometimes just a few £’s above trade. (BSH parts for example).
The high volume spares discount would be relatively straightforward to negotiate; the special order discount is the bit I’m stuck on…….

    Any input appreciated!!!

5026322400/3 from Electrolux. You can often find Crosslee genuine part (as Electrolux part numbers) on the TDS disc, Jim. You can then cross – reference them to Crosslee’s own part number. 😉

    ADP8352:-

    Heater = 5031689047081 @ £43.93 + VAT from Connect (stock).

    Safety ‘stat = BMTX672050280013 @ £14.46 + VAT from Connect (stock).

Contact Tony at EMW electronics – they will supply the PCB already coded, in essence, plug and play. Why not buy it ready programmed? Personally, I’ve not needed the programming equipment at all to date, but I suppose it’s early days yet.

PM Jim (Iadom), Mike – he still has it. My customer is an idiot. :bang: She expected the part for virtually nothing as it was “old stock after all”. You’re welcome to it mate!!

    Re: A thought …

I note that in Varnells’ post he says that DASA’s legal people are looking at this. Will they have much clout with so few members? By this, can it be assumed they mean an inclusive net of ALL ex – MFI engineers or just their own members?
IMO, a Sticky in the General Forum along the lines of “MFI agents and engineers register” to establish who on this site is affected and how much they are out of pocket. I think that Sovereign are hoping that we don’t club together and are counting on the engineers to be disjointed and frightened. A register would allow the WTA to form a picture of what is owed, to whom and what action could be taken collectively. If the administrators have people viewing this site it may well serve as a shot across the bows.
Safety in numbers……..and action in numbers too. If Jackal can guide us, I think it is possibly time to fight back. 😉

My friend who runs http://www.appliancesparesandparts.co.uk obtained express permission from Qualtex to use their catalogue images and part numbers. It can be done!

    Re: Free Estimate.

It’s simple – don’t say “Call out Charge”. Say “Labour Charge”. We say we don’t charge a call out fee but our labour charge is……
Never had a single complaint. Call out separated from labour means 2 charges to the average Joe fishing for a price. Set labour charge is in effect a “take it or leave it” decision. But those who don’t want to pay the labour charge weren’t going to pay anyway. 😉

    Re: Connections – Price bands

Well, I’m spending £1500 + a month with Connect so that blows Martin’s thesis out of the water. (no offence Martin!!). I wish I could understand their pricing policy but I cannot see a pattern. Silverbroom; you’re spending a fifth of the amount I do, yet you get better rates? Good luck to you, mate; but why?
You would think that the amount of times this thread has appeared someone at Connect would have clarified it by now. Maybe they don’t consider it important; or they know they have a captive audience in the independent repairers. :shake:

    Re: Connections – Price bands

Same as Goatboy’s prices; yet I buy loads from Connect. Forget the site contact, I have repeatedly asked the customer services for my rep to contact me and nothing has happened. IF they were interested in trade accounts, I would get a call from my rep straight away. Qualtex, to their credit, call me inside the hour with a price and availability of the part which is very helpful.
My old rep used to call round and even rang periodically to see if all was well. New rep? I’ve never spoken to him about my business; although I have met him at another trader’s shop. He knows who I am. Connect say I have to phone him directly. OK…..but when my customers ring my office, I will return their calls as I want their business. In these difficult times, any trade is good.
So we have no contact, a mounting pile of spares for return (all with CAN numbers), and the lowering of my credit limit last month to well below what I spend every month.
So to get a decent deal, I have to go cap – in – hand to the rep, and cap – in – hand to reapply for a higher credit limit (that I already had and was regularly exceeding) and this from a regular paying and consistent customer. I don’t think I’m going to do that. That tells me they don’t really want my business. And I’m about done giving them any more.
They may just get their wish next month. 😈
