Thanks Kirk, as long as I am not breaking any regulations or putting my customer at risk. I’ll go for it.

Lot and Lots of B and B’s where I am, no house numbers just names. When the B&B is full or they just don’t want to take guests. They don’t bother to put a No Vacancy sign up, Oh! No. that’s far too easy. So they take the house name sign down.
You phone them and say I can’t find your house.
“No I’ve just taken the sign down, but we are just next door to Rosebank, but if she’s full, we are two doors down from Kantara. But if She’s Full!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was with Scottish Hydro Electrics Appliance repairs dept. until they decided to fold that side of the business. From time to time we used to get bumph sent out to us from P & G, and all very interesting. (no freebies though they probably stayed with the manager). But now my source of info has dried up, I am too remote to get a training visit. However since the last few posts show a considerable degree of knowledge. I wondered if this information was in the UK Whitegoods Laundry Guide which in the shop. If so I for one will be buying it along with the UK Whitegoods Fault Code Guide when that becomes available

Re: whirlpool american style s20brbb20-a top of fridge icing

I am not really an expert on these machines. However I do remember a technical memo from Whirlpool. Whereby we were to inform customers that they should not store food items that contain liquid on the top shelf, yogurts, milk, juice etc. Eggs could also be a problem at times, it depends on what type of container they were in, apparently a cardboard box was better than polystyrene, but polystyrene is better than no container.
From what I remember of the memo, this was caused because the airflow from the freezer to the fridge came in at the top of the fridge at a very low temp therefore anything liquid in it’s direct path could be frozen. Solution educate the customer.

This one is even cheaper. This Office suite is very good and really easy to work and has some very good templates. But best of all it is TOTALLY FREE. Just down load it.

I usually wear a uniform when I am out on a call, as many of us do.

A couple of years ago I was in the shop on a Saturday on my day off and I was with my wife and I was wearing “civvies”.

Also in the shop was one of my customers, a rather attractive 30 something. “Hello Mrs ‘C’ ” says I.” She did a double take and then said in a loud voice to the whole shop, “Oh! hello David, sorry I didn’t recognise you with your clothes on” 😳 😳

    Re: maplin satnav

Received mine Saturday. Tried it out with 7 calls today. It works a treat..spot on accurate. And did not once take me through a river. Certainly well worth the money. I haven’t yet worked out how to operate the built in MP3 player, but that’s not really why I bought it.

I don’t know how good these are. But I have just ordered a ‘B’ grade one. If you are quick you can get a “B” grade for £75, yesterday there 32 of them today just 13 left. but even at 100.00 you can’t really go wrong.

    Thanks Dave,
I am really hoping that when I show her a full list with costs she might opt for a new one but some how I doubt it.

I think it is a “My favourite broom” scenario. ( I bought it 20 years ago, it’s had only had 4 new handles and 3 new heads but it’s still my favourite broom) ???.

My next problem will be tracking down the parts!!!

    Cheers David

Yeh! I know K, but the mother-in-law is giving me grief.

“But it’s only this and a bit of that and then a clean up, and it will be as good as new”.

“No I don’t want a new one, I’ve had it 17 years, and this will see me out!!”

“Your in the trade surely you can sort it”

    Cheers Gegsy,
That is going to make some interesting bed time reading. I just hope that I don’t nod off and drop the laptop on the floor.
    I really appreciate your help.

ullevi wrote:So i have to take the base of the washer of then dry of the motor taking all the water away drying everything thoroughly out then replace it all

The thing that annoys me is that the washer should really have had a fused spur fitted but it does not

The machine will have a 13 amp fuse fitted, however the RCD reacts in a much faster time than a fuse (milliseconds). Don’t get annoyed the RCD is doing it’s job. Stopping you from being electricuted.

    Re: Dishwasher problems

Opening and closing the door mid-cycle when the water is very hot can cause an increase in air pressure which can force water back through the system back out into the tray beneath the machine. It is likely that wash motor is sitting in water. Unplug the machine. Remove tray and mop up any water that you find beneath machine. Ensure everything is absolutely dry before attempting to plug machine in again.
