Dave, Connect shows that part as a RH hinge. Is this correct?

Thanks Jim. I believe the leak was from the blocked fab conditioner compartment. However, as is the norm, it wont leak when I’m watching it.
How is your Mum by the way?

The motor will be “star” connected. ie all the coils will be connected in a star configuration with the central joint insulated and not accessible. The only test on the motor will be a coil resistance check and an earth check. All terminals should have the same resistance relative to any other terminal. If all the resistances are the same (within a few percent) and there is no earth leakage then there is unlikely to be a problem with the motor.
The circuit board is encapsulated in a resin which will make component testing very difficult. Be very careful, I believe that the electrolytic capacitors on the board can hold a charge for a long time.
Good luck

It’s a three phase motor that is fed by an invertor. The frequency of the invertor will determine the motor speed. (Three phase motors have a much higher output torque than a single phase motor with the same size stator/rotor assembly) Why the three wires from the tacho…? could it be a three phase output? not sure.

The stator from a wash motor will fit if you can still get a wash motor.

The relay on condenser dryers is a latching relay that ensures that someone has to be present to turn the appliance on. This is due to the large loading door which is large enough for a child to climb in.

Don’t forget that we need a model number to help with these enquiries…
You’re not alone in having difficulty fitting the retaining spring. Our trade forum has several similar posts as even a long served engineer can have difficulties with some machines.
The normal answer here, without special tools, is to get someone to give you a helping hand. Get a friend to hold it at the top whilst you fight with rest of it.
If you need help, use our Repairs@ service to find a local engineer.
Remember… Power off before attempting any repair. :plug:

This machine is pretty well protected by the electronics and throws an error code and stops dead whenever it sees a fault. I’m quite happy in this situation to leave it working.
However I understand your sentiments here. It’s usually best in my experience to leave the machine disconnected with a “do not use” notice attached. It’s the only way to cover yourself.

Thanks mate. I have tapped it with a screwdriver and brought it back to life so it might last a few washes.

WARNING
Sorry lads… don’t do this!… I got a recall today to a flooded floor.
The Hotpoint heater fell out after one wash. The rubber is just not long enough to create a tight seal.Bob
