    Re: Motor direction

Sorry, Chris I dont agree with you. :eeek: Any motor with “Reaction” brushes (slanted ends) MUST be installed to spin in the right direction. During spin the motor takes much more current than during wash and the way manufacturers have managed to achieve such high power from such a small motor is to use the “armature reaction” to it’s advantage.

When a motor rotates the magnetic field produced by the field windings is distorted. (Twisted in the direction of rotation).

If a washing machine spins in the reverse direction, the extra current is likely ti blow both the motor and the module.

I have worked as a design engineer in an electric motor factory… Believe me. :zap:

Make sure that the machine is spinning clockwise. A reversed field winding will cause the fuse to blow at superspin on a heavy load if the machine is spinning anticlockwise.

    Re: another joke.

Paddy and Murphy are standing on the top of a tower block looking over the edge. Paddy has a parrot and a shotgun, Murphy has a budgie in a cage…

Murphy goes first… He jumps off the top of the building with his budgie and falls 500ft to his death with a ‘splat’! He then floats off to Heaven.

Paddy’s turn next… He jumps and, mid fall, lets go of the parrot and blasts it with his shotgun. He falls to the ground with a ‘splat’ and floats off to heaven!

They meet at the pearly gates and Paddy says to Murphy…

    …“How was the ‘Budgie Jumping’?”

… “Not bad… How did you get on with your ‘Free Fall Parrot Shooting’?”

Re: Whirlpool DWF 416 detergent door not opening and not dry

Can you find the service code on the side wall of the door. It’s a long number with a bar code and the word “service”.

It’s not normally a job we would suggest a customer does himself as it requires strip down. Make sure that you pull the plug before investigating further. :plug: :zap:

I think you’re looking at about £40 to £45 for the dispenser. I will let one of my colleagues take over from here to find you the part number as my listing does not show your model number.

The detergent door and the rinse aid are both dispensed using the same solenoid inside the dispenser. So yes your faults are both related.

Looks like an engineer visit I am afraid

    Re: Diplomat ADP8234 Dishwasher

There are several reasons. If the dispenser is open at the end of the cycle then the dispenser is probably OK.

The flap may be restricted by something in the cutlery basket or on the top basket.

The top spray arm may be blocked or restricted and not turning. Therefore not washing out the tablet. The spray arms can easily be removed for cleaning. If there is a foreign object blocking the holes in the end of the spray arm you will need to make sure you remove it rather than just poking it back in. If the spray arm is touching items in the lower basket, you may be able to raise the top basket onto its other set of wheels.

… Or you may have a problem with the water level or circulation pump but check out the above first.

It’s usually the wires to the motor harness, either on the motor itself or where the harness leaves the cabinet. It’s often associated with a failed TOC on the top of the heater box as the heater is switched in the neutral.

How many more times am I going to get blinded by a ‘helpful’ customer and his 500,000 candle power torch? It’s always when you’ve got your head stuck in the inner drum with a tiny torch looking for a foreign object and some pratt shines his new toy over your shoulder.

I’m usually such a placid man but this customer learnt a few new words!!! 👿

Repairing an old bendix dishwasher the other day with blocked syphon tubes… old man customer insisted on helping me by washing every bit that I put on the work top. I cleaned the blue syphon tubes myself ‘cos they’re a bit delicate but I left him to clean the other bits whilst I up ended the machine to clear the transfer hoses etc.

Went to reasemble the machine only to find my bluetooth headset neatly washed and dried amongst the filters.

    £50 literally down the drain… 😡

It obviously fooled the ServiceForce engineer on this machine as he fitted FIVE components on the previous invoice for the same fault ❗

    Thanks for the explanation.

I carry a merloni dispenser C00054943. It’s about £12.00 from connections and fits most machines with a single solenoid.

There was a little iron filings around the magnet. I suspect the module myself. There are no obvious dry joints.

On a different note, I did fit one of the magnets upside down a few months ago. It don’t work upside down 😳

ER? the picture looks like four amp tags leading nowhere?

Thanks for that, The part has been fitted before and the customer has a ServiceForce invoice with that part number on it.

    thanks again Dave

    Re: Quickbooks

This is as clear as mud!!!

Give me a washing machine to fix any day!!!

    My problem is:

I have set up an account (type ‘Long term liability’) and I have called the account ‘Carlyle Finance’. I have left the opening balance £0.00 as instructed.

That’s about as far as I get. The help menu tells me to Make Deposits to set the opening balance but which account to I deposit the loan amount into at this stage? The vehicle finance was all taken care of at the van dealership so no actual money went into my current account.

Do I purchase the van from my ‘equipment’ account? or do I create a unique account to track it.

Also is there a way to set up regular payments?

Thanks for your help in advance.
