The pair of stats must always be replaced as a pair. 1701583

The control stat is at the twelve oclock position above the door access and trips at 58 degrees.

The usual reason for the one shot stat failing is the customer opening the door during the drying cycle, however it usually takes more than a week for this to happen so I would investigate further.

There is a lot of information on this site about this problem. Have a probe about using the search feature. You’re not alone…

I use an XDA11 (o2) It’s brilliant. It’s a ‘smartphone’ that I use as a PDA, Telephone, Calculator, Camera, Sat Nav… I can even browse the UKW website in my lunchbreak.

    … Lunchbreak? What’s that?

I won’t mind being a bit more pushy, the point being that the survey may not be unbiased if only a particular type of person is willing to contribute.

Many years ago, a done a similar survey on behalf of a university student who needed to do a survey for their coursework. I had 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} success when I asked my customers if they would be willing to answer a few questions. However, I seem to have hit a blank with the telephone survey.

    I’ll keep trying

Kevin, I am having a nightmare trying to get anyone to participate in the survey.

I’m probably not pushing this very well but I have had a very negative response when I ask for people to help out. It seems that people don’t like the thought of someone phoning them to ask questions. If I was asking them to fill in a form while I was there I don’t think there would be a problem. I have only one person willing to participate and five in a row that were positively against it!

It makes me wonder if you will be getting a true picture if the survey is only taken up by a particular type of person.

How are the rest of you guy’s getting on?

Dave, Is there any chance of a bit on about adequate cabinet ventilation. I see loads of Mistrals with blocked condensers where the dog sits in front and blocks it up with dog hair. The sympton is the freezer runs, cycling on the compressor overtemp stat and usually runs at -12 to -15 degrees (warm enough to bring on the overtemp light but not obvious where the fault is)

I don’t do refrigeration appliances now but I do know this is a very common fault that can easily be rectified by the customer without an engineer visit.

I think the sticky is brilliant. Just the right length without too much high tech talk.

Small typo. Second to last paragraph, second to last line. “cause” spelt “caus”

I don’t know this particular machine but the control unit is the same as wm51, wm61 etc. The motor reversing is done solely on the control unit and I would have suspected the timer as well.

It it a GDA motor or a FHP motor?

Does the motor run correctly on the forward tumble with a nice ramp up to spin or does it ‘lurch’ into spin?

If it doesn’t sound right it might have one faulty field coil, this might only show up in reverse tumble. Check that both coils have the same resistance.

I’ll put my thinking cap on as I am sure I’ve had this problem before.

If the heater has a low insulation resistance it will still heat up. If the motor has a low insulation resistance it will still rotate, but if you add the two low insulation resistances together it may be enough to trip an RCD.

Your test meter will sort it out for sure.

Surely that belt number is for an early 5KG model!

If you have just changed the bearings and drum support, did you inspect the heater for damage when you had it out?

Thanks Dave, I’m sure that’s the ones, if not I will improvise. The customer threw away all of the door fixings when the glued front glass fell to bits. She then decided to get it fixed. Silly old Sod! I have sussed out all of the other bits.

    Thanks again

How can you do a day’s work without a meggar?

Sorry Mike, but Martin’s right, there’s no guesswork here, you just can’t assume that a machine is safe to plug in without a meggar test!

Had the same today. Mine was a Teka branded model. It was a blocked metering hose system. This can sometimes be cleaned with your trusty syringe and a length of pressure hose:

Remove the black non-return valve under the filter then suck and blow some water through the pipes. However, it woiuldn’t work for me today and I had to strip it down as the gunk was in the metering chamber inside the right hand side wall.
