    Re: hoover motor tacho magnet

I have tried to take them off an old motor but they tend to just crack. Shame to dump an otherwose good motor for the sake of a tiny bit of plastic.

Sounds like a pressure switch or chamber problem.

These problems only appear AFTER a Hotperloni engineer(ha) has been at work on these machines. It looks like they need some training. 😉

    Re: Zanussi pressure pots

Bit confused here, are we talking about washing machine pressure chambers or dishwasher matrixes? 😕

I find the best way of cleaning the dishwasher matrix is to take it off the machine, take it into the garden with a bowl of water. Take the valve coils off. Then squirt warm water through the valve openings with a syringe and give the whole thing a good shake. Be prepared to get wet!

I make a little ‘ bottle brush’ from a length of electrical cable with an inch or so of insulation cut back and the copper conductors frayed out. This can be used to get to hard to reach areas.

Keep at it until all traces of black gunge has gone. Otherwise you will be back within a few months to do it again.

Washing machine pressure chambers I clean through the pressure hoses with hot water from a syringe. Keep sucking and blowing until the water runs clean.

A bit of diluted chlorine bleach helps in both cases

Here’s the Hotpoint date code list in printable format. Thanks to Jim for the info.

    Re: WMA44 no motor action

Often caused by Hotperloni engineers not tying the harness correctly following a drum change. The wires chaff on the lower concrete balance weight.

    Re: BC145 D/w on fire

I had a free standing one today (sorry no model number) that had caught fire and tripped the RCD. This was only 13 months old. I sent the customer to Hotpoint with the hope that they will take responsibilty.

The motor was burned out, there is a black hose above the motor that had melted and squirted water everywhere. The plastic unit on the bottom of the tub that holds the motor mount had completely melted. The resin unit has melted and distorted. I didn’t investigate further to find the reason for the fire but the base looked as if it has been wet for a while. The machine is leaning forward by about 10mm top to bottom.

All in all, its a bit of a sh#t machine really. (Under-statement or what!!)

    Re: Hoover WDM130 overfilling

When testing for air leaks it’s much easier to test for a vacuum rather than a positive pressure. If you seal one end of the pipe with your finger and suck on the other end to try and create a vacuum, you can usually ‘feel’ a drop in pressure on your tongue.

Don’t suck on a pressure switch though as you may damage it and alter the calibration.
