    Hi Bob

That’s the one, it’s two pole and in series with the heater.

Kevin. Is this correct? I don’t remember anything in the training that said there was no bleach in the non bio’s, only that the enzymes where not present.

I think we have been down this channel before. Some pay much more than others with Connect depending on how the discount structure is set up. Personally I find them very reasonable.

    Re: Bosch dishwasher

Most Bosch parts are available from Connect Distribution. I look up the part numbers on the Bosch website and then find the part on Connect by adding prefix BSH in the global search area. Most parts are available as stock items and the prices are not too bad.

PS. many Hotpoint parts are interchangeable with the Bosch dishwasher parts and are sometimes a lot cheaper. (not always)

Isn’t there a timer/relay thingy inside the door panel that pulses the wash motor on some models?

    Re: Project ** ELEMENT **

The most common is probably the 6224745 fan element that fits many Hotpoint/Creda/Belling cookers. I carry a wide range of cooker elements as they are often interchangeable [with a little manipulation]. They are so reasonable price that it seems daft not to carry a selection on the van. I rarely need to order a special order for an element, apart from some weird Bosch ones. I tend to charge £23.00 as a general price.

I agree with Dave that it is one of the fans. However it might not be too serious. Sometimes a ‘bounce’ sheet or something similar can get lodged in the fan and send it out of balance. You may be able to see the obstruction in the fan by taking the filter out and looking down the ducting. Remember to pull the plug out of the wall before prodding about.

    Re: Mobile phones… continued

I use my mobile phone for all my outgoing calls and I have an ‘anytime’ call package that costs £75.00 per month . My wife’s phone is included on the same contract but hers has only 75 minutes call time.

Diverted calls for the period 23 mar to 23 Jun 2005:- 533 calls over nearly 7 hhrs 50 mins cost me £62.50 in charges.
    (Approx £21.00 per month)

If a call looks like it might take a long time or is obviously just a request for information, I always take the number and phone back.

It seems like a lot at first but I only need to take less than two calls to pay for the diverted calls over the three month period!

    Re: WMA Brushes

Just out of interest, these are exactly the same brushes as used in bosch machines (wfb2005). Bosch brushes are £26 and Hotpoint ones £10 (trade)

    Re: broken drum shafts

Had one today. This was a six year old hotpoint that I replaced a door seal and brushes on only last week. When I was there last week I instructed to do a boil wash to try and freshen the machine up as it stunk like an old cess-pitt.

Turns out that the mould was the only thing holding it together!!! Of course it was my fault! 😉

Should have kept quiet, had it broken in a few months time I could have charged another labour charge.

ps how does the condenser work

    :lesson:

Condenser dryers have two distinct and separate air systems:

The air that comes in contact with the clothes is recycled. It starts off cold and is blown over the heater element and over the tumbling wet clothes. The air is thus cooled down slightly by the wet clothes and takes some water out of the clothes and holds this water as water vapour.

The air is then passed through the cold condenser and, as the temperature changes, the water vapour condenses and falls by gravity into a chamber under the condenser. (This may then be pumped up to the condensate bottle or allowed to run by gravity into the condensate bottle depending on the model)

The secondary airflow is there just to keep the condenser cold. The secondary air flow is drawn from the room, through the cabinet, through the condenser and back out into the room. It can often be felt as warm air at floor level.

Condenser dryers will only work efficiently if the condenser can be kept as cold as possible and therefore the machine should always have adequate ventilation and should never be in a closed cupboard when in use.

The condensor must be kept free of fluff and obstuctions and should be removed and cleaned regularly.

    End of lesson

I had something similar the other day. I can’t remember the make but I decided to change the fan as well. There is always a spare fan with the creda fan motor that I carry as a generic fan motor.
