Not trying to bump this one but for anyone`s future reference , new module sorted it and no visible signs of damage to old PCB.
Thanks again Dave 😀

I had one today also , not quite as extreme but nevertheless , Hoover Dryer Motor 04350196 @£23:55+vat from Connect , order going to Masterpart@ £9:99+vat.
There can`t be many trade customers out there who don`t double check prices , so all they`re achieving is loosing an order 🙄 .Bryan

Have a look at 536384 on Connect website , pretty sure that`s the door latch and it costs an unbelievable 68p 😀 .
Sorry can`t find the glass tray but hope that helps.Bryan

ParticipantRe: Hoover merchantable quality
Does this machine not have a 5 year parts guarantee ❓ .
Sure you would still have to pay Hoover call out charge (£90 approx.) but it may give you an option.Bryan

Going to cost a hell of a lot more than Hotpoint’s £90 labour if module has gone as well. 😥I would have thought even to replace the motor on its own we`re struggling to beat £90 as best price I can get on that motor is £68 + vat.
More work not even worth looking at unless you have the stock and the customer is willing to pay more than the manufacturer will charge. The possibility of a blown module on top of that and the whole scenario is a nightmare 👿
Am I correct in thinking these WF machines are a step even further backward for Hotpoint ❓

Yes Bob , I know what you mean about spending a lot of time on the phone to customers but I just consider it part of the job and sometimes 5 or 10 minutes “grilling” a customer on the fault details can save time on site.
Sorry don`t know anything about call centre help but at the end of the day I think we would still end up calling customers back for further vital details and discussion.
Seems to be more and more mobile calls these days and they never even know the make of their appliance and they`re never at home 🙄 .Grin and bear it I think and be thankful you`re busy 😀

Have you checked the motor ❓ . Tracks on the PCB don`t blow for no reason.

Don`t know about anyone else but I`ve had a few recently on Zanussi`s where the door interlock has blown the electroncs in true Hotpoint tradition 🙄
Looks like there`s one in the public forums tonight also.Bryan

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFO2864GB/01
Thanks for the replies lads.
Greg , you mentioning brushes , are you thinking brushes very low , causing excess sparking at commutator and shutting down electronics ❓
Have had this occasssionally on Hoover (Softwave from memory) and thanks for that , the more I think about it I think you`re right.
Would have expected motor to have stopped after 3 or 4 washes but Bosch motors do seem to sometimes run with brushes very low.
She`s stopped using it now so no probs.Cheers

Any ideas of how much i am looking at?Yes , that element should cost £20-£25 and on top of that you`ll be charged for an hour of labour which varies depending on which part of the country you live but between £35 and £55 would be about right.
Hope that helps.

I’ve tried looking for engineers, but with most of them costing 50+ just for a call-out fee (+vat) and not including the part, I’m looking at 80-100 quid. If it cost 40 quid then maybe it’s worth it, but otherwise it is economically better to simply invest that towards a new dryer.Don`t know what part of the country your in as labour rates do vary but that belt should cost you about £10-£15 and a reputable engineer will charge you an hours labour which should be between £35 and £55.
Try the link in Penguin45`s signature and get the job done professionally with no hassle 😀 .

I wouldn`t knock it Jim because faults like this are good , solid , easy repairs with very little chance of a recall. This is the type of work we all need where the customer will happily pay a reasonable sum for a job well done.
When a customer calls me with a Bosch timer knob turning freely by hand , I think “oh great” , when a customer calls with an Indesit timer knob turning of its own free will , I think “oh f…”
