I hope you tipped the lads a few quid Martin for their little bit extra:?:
Maybe just enough to buy themselves a good lunch. :stir:

    Am I reading this correctly?
You’re suggesting that the subscribers/WTA fund pays for a buffet for UKW members who may never have contributed to this fund :?.

    Nah, I must be mis-reading this 😯

You don’t happen to know the number of the fan by any chance?

No need to replace the fan, that device (8996619267611) switches the cooling fan motor when it detects rise in temp.
Simply replace that part and all should be well 😉

Thanks for the reply and yes the door did lock on at the time of the fault.

PTC sensor reading 520 ohms at room temp which seemed about right to me, any idea on how to clear this fault code from the display ❓ 😕

    Re: SMEG PULLEY

Anyone else come across this problem ❓
I’ve got the same problem and just wondered if it’s a case of the pulley wearing and needing replaced or if it’s due to excess vibration that this machine seems prone to.Bearings seem ok but huge amount of pulley wobble just throws the belt off.

Connect list 2 different pulleys for this model 😕 the one fitted seems to be 876370036.

    Thanks

That would be perfect then Don, they could then hike up the prices on appliances and everyone would be happy 🙂
I can just see it , the standard £800 washing machine that breaks down on a fairly regular basis, now that would be good for business.
Nah, right enough it’s not going to happen is it ❓

Good question Don because the finished goods are cheaper than the spares in my limited experience of those two makes :rolls:

Don’t know if you’ve followed Mark Knopfler’s solo career since then Martin but I can highly recommend his album “Kill To Get Crimson” from last year.

In The Sky is my favourite track. Probably best listening to it sitting by the side of your swimming pool rather than Asda’s carpark :).

    Hi Don

Thanks for that. I had looked at the drawing on Mediator and ended up even more confused as to whether it should be the part no. you gave or DEL050021.The drawing seems a bit mixed up to me 😕 although I’m still on the old version of the Connect site.

I might just damn the expense :scots: and order both.

The last few months has been the quietest I’ve had in business since I started in business 15 years ago.
Can’t see how all the economic doom and gloom should affect our types of business as people should be looking to repair rather than replace in these circumstances :?.

Some weeks are ok, then it falls away again 😥

Everyone in my area seems to be a bit quieter than usual so that is some sort of comfort that it’ll pick up at some point.

I am also sure that there was a previous discussion on UKWG over recent weeks when someone was asking about the type of clamps Indesit/Hotpoint/Whirlpool use and if plastic ties would sufffice.

Was that in the public or trade forums?

Reading that story it strikes me the customer may have ballsed it up himself or maybe that’s just wishfull thinking on my behalf :).

Phidom wrote:Yes, if these sealed tubs are so much cheaper to manufacture why can’t they pass on some of the savings to us in the price of a replacement assembly. If I could offer a cost effective tub renewal service it would be nicer work than messing about with bits of old broken bearing.

IMO this whole debate is down to spare parts pricing issues.
If these sealed tubs were supplied to us at a price where we could get the job done cost-effectively to the customer then we’d all be happy and enjoying the profit such work would bring.

Again IMO, we should be concentrating on addressing the manufacturers or whoever else can help on the issue of fair spare parts pricing.
I don’t know if it’s realistic to think we could achieve any changes when it comes to spare parts pricing but it truly would be an achievement if UKW or even the WTA made progress in this direction.

    Re: Dopey ****

I had a good one this afternoon. Customer replaced brushes on his Hotpoint WM29 himself, cleaned the commutator and lifted the tag on the new brushes but still no motor action.

As I was in his area I agreed to pop in past and check it out for him.
Much to my pleasant surprise the motor plug was not connected and he did wonder if that should be plugged in to the motor .

To be fair to him he paid up without any problem although he did appear slightly angry with himself :).

About 10 of them every week would be nice 😈
