I’ve done exactly that and I seem to recall it took well over ten minutes to get to 150C!

If BSH go with 2.3kW then thats good enough for me…besides, if the fan is running (at even a half decent speed) and the door is sealing correctly then provided you haven’t removed the insulation (!) there simply isn’t enough watts in the oven 😉

    Re: dishwasher tablet not dissolving

    Hi skivvy

The tablet is not dissolving for one of two reasons….

Firstly the spray arms may be blocked (check that the holes on the rotating arms are clear, if they aren’t then clean them and check the filter in the base is fully in position)

Secondly, and in my experience more likely, the machine is not taking enough water on board because of a partial blockage in the water level control system.

For the second cause you will need an engineer, but it is likely to be a cheap and easy fix 😉

Have a look in Repairs@ for someone local to you…..

If it’s a non gen element then you may need to check the wattage…some of the earlier ovens used a much lower wattage element which outwardly appears identical. (same fittings, terminal spacing etc)

The element you should have is 2500W IRC….as a rough guide, the stat should cut-out at 150C in 6 mins from a room temperature start.

    Hi Ken

Looking at the new Repairs@ form, it will contain more information than the previous one so I for one would like to complete and return this obviously useful information. My question…is it possible to make this into an interactive pdf, or indeed put it up in Excel?

Sounds like it’s still damp in there somewhere…seem to remember there’s a mod for the lower door seal too?
Best bet is to leave it to dry thoroughly before proceeding i would think. (and have a good check for insulation on the components at the bottom) 😉

    Re: Dyson

….hardly suprising really, a friend of mine worked for a time on the sales floor of a national chain store which specialises in the better quality stuff….he said that in the first seven months of the two models going on the shop floor only two were sold (one of each model), and they were both bought by a senior technician for Miele to be forensically examined at the Miele head office R & D lab!
Let’s face it, if you can buy a quality product that does a perfectly satisfactory job for under 500 quid then why spend over a grand????

Re: AEG Favorit 50750Vi Spare parts

You will need the PNC number to identify which parts are required, this will be on the rating plate usually on the edge of the door alongside the model number.
We can then provide you with part numbers for the parts….

Goerge W Bush….sitting at his desk in the oval office….one of his aides came in and said ‘excuse me Mr President, more news about the fighting in Iraq….it seems that two Brazillian men have been killed today’

George Bush has a look of sheer horror on his face, clasps his hands to his head and lowers his face to the desk weeping.

His other aides look at each other in suprise….they can’t believe that this news has had such a devastating effect, after all the President gets to hear about some deaths in the world almost every day.

After a couple of moments the President lifts his head from the desk with a slightly puzzled look on his face, he turns to his aide and says….

‘Ed, remind me again, how many exactly is a brazillian?’

Re: Help on old Zanussi washer

Definitely a faulty pump…the very first seconds of the ‘rebound’ avi shows a stiffness in turning, and too great a rotation before the magnetic ‘rebound’

Penguin is correct when he mentions problems with impellor drive.

A new pump will solve the problem, remembering that on first use there may well be an airlock which is easily shifted by turning the power on and off a few times during a pumping action. Once the airlock has gone there will always be some water left in preventing further airlocks (the pump will drain down to the ‘head’ of water required to work and no further)

The wav file of the pump under load gives the typical sound of this failure, the clicking being the slop of the impellor on the drive shaft (machine empty as no pumping actually happening) followed by it eventually running and ‘chasing’ the head of water up and down the drain hose.

Perhaps a good start might be to replace the inlet valve and see what happens (I have known valve coils to be intermittant)?
