ParticipantRe: Hygena Dishwasher
Yes John….
If by the base you mean the inside where you load the machine then there is either a back-flow from the waste connection, or the inlet valve is not shutting off correctly.
If you mean the ‘under-tray’ of the machine then quite simply you have a leak somewhere, this could be from several sources ranging from very minor to write-off really.
Best bet is to have an engineer look at it for you if you are unsure how to proceed. Have a look in Repairs@ (the big red tool-box on the left) to see if there’s someone near you.

ParticipantRe: PUBLIC LIABILITY INS QUOTES
….it’s just that i’ve changed insurer to MMA, costs £82 with £100 excess for £2m cover….the excess does increase to £500 if using heating/burning equipment but as I so rarely do a re-gas these days I took the gamble 😉
….and it was
so easy to complete online, had a confirmation call from them the following morning, and the schedule arrived the day after 🙂

Is that for £2m cover Martin?

ParticipantRe: salt left on crockery
Yes…the softener may have been completely exhausted in which case it will take a wash or three to regenerate fully after adding the salt.
I suspect the deposit on your glasses was actually limescale from the water, the softener will now deal with this.
It’s worth reminding that the machine requires soft/softened water to achieve a good result so the components are deisgned to with this, and not hard water which will not only give a poor result but will actually damage the machine in time.

Sounds very much like the brushes…despite getting some sort of reading accross them, the value of this reading is important.
Usually a visual check of the commutator confirms brush failure instantly…if it has a matt black slightly rough and pitted finish then the brushes have expired 😉
Do remember to completely unplug the machine before carrying out any work :zap:

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint condenser dryer CTD00
Yes there is a fault…the water has to go somewhere. There may be an internal leak which needs an engineer to investigate. This may not be serious.
Have a look in Repairs@ for a local engineer.

ParticipantRe: lec t450cw wont work after defrost?
The only way to test is with a multi-meter to check the supply through the stat and compressor really.
It will most likely be the thermostat but if you are unsure then have a look in Repairs@ for a local engineer.
Just a thought….I hope your lil’ sister didn’t defrost it with anything sharper than her elbow???
If you have a go yourself then don’t forget to completely unplug the appliance as a first step :zap:

ParticipantRe: That Partscenter website!!
Having met Wayne today I was most impressed with his ideas for changes to the website in particular and for ideas regarding delivery/collection of spares at local plumb centers etc….I look forward to the result of that meeting on Wednesday.
A good rep seems hard to find these days….so more power to your elbow Wayne 😉
…..ohhhh…and he did have some excellent tips for navigating the website too, yes it is awkward but the answers are all there if you know how to look for them! I’m sure he’ll forgive me for suggesting you contact him on this site for help navigating it (more business Wayne 😉 )….or perhaps he would be kind enough to put a few words of the like spoken today here on the forum?
Wayne? 😆clivejameson
ParticipantRe: Are all cooker stats the same calibration?
Instinct would say definitely not….
Most stats seem to have different maximum temperature settings although many are similar, but of course the phial is of differing lengths and sizes.
Have a look at Kitchen Economy…I carry a TS124 and a TS125 on van stock and these seem to fit around 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of fan ovens, mainly the bottom end stuff, but useful nonetheless 😉
