Two versions of this machine, one using conventional thermostat the other using a thermistor mounted on a PCB which forms the interior light and sensor assy. Will need the serial number to take it further.

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint FFA70…Help Needed Please !
OK – Fully electronically controlled appliance with electronic temperature sensors embedded in the insulation (ie not replaceable) So to help you establish what is at fault, first switch machine off for about an hour. Then switch back on and listen and see if you can hear a hum followed by a click or alternatively the motor running. (could be a slight delay on switch on) If you hear nothing then I would suggest you facia PCB is duff. If you hear the hum and click then your motor (compressor) is defective. Either way it will be cost effective to get Hotpoint to do it. If it is the sensors they may even offer you a deal on a new one. Good luck.

Hi Tony – No thought that myself, but it still stopped – it may be that there is a period in a sort of soak but I don’t repair enough of these to have the info. Any further ideas?

I’ve got a Tom-Tom for the car which is good but if you just want a basic one with 7 digit postcode facility have a look at the Navman F20 which will cost you about £115 if you shop about. I’m using mine out in the wilds of Lincolnshire and not got lost yet.

Trading standards everytime. She has a phone number as a start, you can bet they are aware of him or if not soon will be. Leave it with them to sort out and whilst You are about it you complain to TS that there is a company on your patch trying to give you a bad name.

If you dont have a tablet in the dispenser does the spring mechanics work OK manually? If so the fault is with the tablet not the dispenser.

ModeratorRe: Servis M0330S fridge freezer advice needed please
Ok – Fully electronically controlled appliance with a mechanical flap type fridge thermostat. So all cooling is in the freezer area and cold air is ducted into the fridge by the fan in the freezer. The flap in the fridge opens and closes as required. The freezer ‘cold plate (evaporator)’ temperature is controlled by an electronic sensor and for defrosting a small heater is switched on when required to clear this plate of ice. To ensure that the heater does not get too hot a fuse is in the circuit. Usual reasons for overfreezing, door is not being closed properly, fuse has blown, heater is defective, sensor is duff, ducts are blocked with ice or you are short of refrigerant. Red light just indicates that the f/f is outside of its selected temperature. There are two versions so if you post the serial number, which will begin with 9 or 2 I’ll add more info if required.

The dishwasher is made by Bosch for Gorenje, service is carried out by Independent Service for Gorenje.

ModeratorRe: danfoss thermostat
The tag labelled No 8 is used where there is no fast freeze switch, but by turning the thermostat knob to its maximum the thermostat is bypassed and the compressor connected directly to the mains supply. Usually, if you tape up the lead that would go to the No 8 tag and use the other three as originally found you can use the Danfoss 6 stat but without the fast-freeze facility.

ModeratorRe: Zan defrost timer wiring
Had the same problem last week and was given this gem by Paragon timers. The concept is that you have one neutral tag and one live tag that feed the timer motor and the live is also switched between either the compressor or the defrost heater. If You manually turn the timer (power off) you will get a long period with no contact action and a short period with the same. (listen for the click of the contacts) the long period is normal compressor operation and the short period is defrost. So, once established which is which you can see where the switching goes.
The layout on the paragon is –4 3 2 1
where 1 = neutral
3 = common switched live
2 = compressor
4 = defrost heaterIt works with all of these types of timer – once you have established which is the neutral you can then work out the others from their switching.
Good luckDales-Electronic

I would suggest you are either short of refrigerant or the motor is duff. Engineer time
