It has come to my notice that there seems to be some problems with payments from First4Service so having contacted them over the weekend I today received the following response from their MD Matt Jeffers. It would seem that they are having problems with the integration of their job allocation system and the sage accounting system that they are using. Currently this package is refusing to allow the system to input data and the accounting system to pay said engineer in the agree 14 day period. He assures me that he has drafted in further staff to manually input this information to get the engineers paid and further confirmed that the new automated system will be in place by the end of December. Watch this space for further updates ~ Ian

ModeratorRe: Not Cooling
I would suggest you have a faulty temperature sensor or controller as the appliance is able to reach -17C. However, has the unit got a fast-freeze switch? If so put it into fast freeze and tell me if it gets colder than the -17

Coolectric (UK Liebherr Service) is owned by the Waterline Group, the contract between Liebherr and Waterline and thereby Coolectric has been terminated. I guess we will see a press release shortly. HTH

We are nearing the end of the first year of the WTA members doing work for this company and time for a review ~ I have had very few issues with them paying on time but I am getting some whispers that there may be problems with the recall agreement and also durability concerns with original and replacement parts ie fan motor on ovens and hinge problems. Could those of you that have got concerns please send me details of jobs that have/are causing upset. Would you kindly list job numbers and the problems to me at ‘dales.electronic@btopenworld.com‘ so that I can discuss with them
Many thanks ~ IanDales-Electronic

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint Fridge/Freezer
Leak in the freezer side, no, this is usually due (but not confined to) the freezer door being left open. Before you go down the route of replacing anything defrost the appliance for two days (ie towel across the front of the appliance and doors open. After two days defrosting restart the appliance and if you get the problem reoccurring come back to us

Hi Mark,
No just phone them up, tell them details, they will give you a job number and once completed send in your invoice and you should get paid within two weeks (their payment run is every fortnight)

ModeratorRe: fridge problem
This Frididaire model was notorious for leaking the refrigerant out. So a number of questions, you say that bypassing the stat caused the inside cabinet to get cold, to what temperature? Secondly it was during its product run charged with both R134a and R600a both of which have a different boiling point ie R600a @ -11.7C R134a @ -26.6C. This resulted in two different thermostats being offered. As thermostats are usually clipped or bolted to the evaporator where the gas is boiling off you can see that having the right stat is critical. Curiously you state that the compressor is getting cold when in fact is should run warm or if short of gas hot. Perhaps you could clarify also the statement inside front to back difference of 8c. In such a small unit that seems excessive. Have any other mods been carried out?

They are doing field trials with the general public at this very moment, will be interesting to see if the product is still on the market in a year or so.

ModeratorRe: Any ideas what this is?
Remember thermal cut-outs can operate both ways ie normally closed opening on temperature rise, or normally open closing on temperature rise. What is it connected to? Is it by chance controlling the fan unit used to keep a digital timer cool?

ModeratorRe: LEC: Model RF109-Fridge Freezer. Fridge Wont Cool
Perhaps too late but nevertheless I will try and point you in the right direction but I need more information from you to begin with. You say that the milk is going off which logically would lead one to conclude that the temperature is too high within BUT this can be caused by a number of things, please respond to the following questions and I will give you my suggestions –
a. Is the motor (compressor to us geeks) running?
b. Does the motor feel hot to the touch?
c. If you open the fridge door can you hear a hissing of gas?
e. If it has a black condenser on the back ~ is this warm?
f. Is there any cooling at all in the icebox?
g. If the motor is running and does it switch off at all?
h. Is the door seal in good order? That’s for starters ~ look forward to your reply

Sorry – You will need the full model number and serial number too – the faults indicators are dependent on model, as there are various software/electronic board configurations.
