They are now rolling out the service network and in the next few days those of you that have signed up will get a username and password to log into their system. Once logged in fill in the details such as PLI etc and they you will be good to go – its quite easy, even I can do it !!

George – This has always been the case nothing has changed there at all – however from my understanding, if you were to say buy the appliance from the customer for say £0.10p then the item is not waste. In this case the customer has sold the item to you not given you it. An interesting point don’t you think 8)

Guys – perhaps a little clarification as to what we do here at the WTA regarding service work. From time to time we are approached by manufacturers wanting cover in the UK. It usually comes either as ‘we need a call carrying out in xx postcode area, have you got anyone’ or ‘can you help us set up a service network’ With the former, we just give out the engineers details and suggest that they contact you direct, negotiate a price and get the job done. In the case of the latter we arrange a meeting, discuss what they want and try and help, together with sorting out a national rate for this work. Once this is agreed we supply them with WTA members details and they then contact you direct. Let me now get to the crux of the matter –
a. The manufacturer contacts you and other than rates and sometimes service level agreements sorts out how you will run the operation with them.
b. Throughout this process you can either take on the work or not, its totally your choice, if you don’t want it then the manufacturer will make alternative arrangements.
c. The national rate is agreed to stop (as happened with GIAS) them contacting engineers directly and offering below market rates.
d. Sofar we have only negotiated with Manufacturers/Importers, we do not offer service to Work Providers. In time we may look into Service for retailers but that is some way down the road.So to reiterate – it is your choice, having the rates already supplied, to work (or not) with these guys – enjoy 😛

Thank you for your continued support, I have asked WRAP and Defra to help us with this and they are as keen as mustard because of course its WRAPs baby. I hope to be able to get support from them with a view to rolling out the first lot of qualified engineers by or before the March 2014 meeting. My though was this would be a opportunity to showcase (in the form of certificates being given out similar to a school prize)the WTA in action. Equally much as you all know I like strawberries, from time to time it is nice to piss on someone elses’

ModeratorRe: I Don’t Know Anyone!
Could we just not slip the receptionist a couple of quid and ask them to direct anyone that comes in with a WTA discount room into where we are all setting up. If we do it right we can get them to help out and feel part of the family?

Toni – Has it got a diverter valve at the back?

ModeratorRe: EEE safe email.
No surprises with the stand – Graham Dixon is a committee member and is associated with Robert Alexander. WRAP/DEFRA have no interest in it. No government support blah blah

ModeratorRe: CDA… Surprise!!
I think to be honest Ken, we are so used to being shafted it is hardly worth mentioning it. You and I are both ‘old soldiers’ in this game – I have run out of fingers counting those that have done this, followed years later by ‘will you come and work for us again’ What is especially nasty about this is that there was no ‘termination notice’ of say 3 months or even 30 days. But hey this is not the first time that CDA have ditched their network – go back to John Hopwoods time.
We as committee members are always concerned by the lack of loyalty shown by some engineers but when something like this happens whilst not agreeing with their stance can at least see why 🙁 -
