Update to Lawrences bit — Lawrence & I met Lord de Mauley yesterday for breakfast (although) Lawrence was not too impressed with the slice of orange he was given !! Together with a group of 11 other people covering environmentalists, local authority reps. the Confederation of British Industries and Federation of Small Business. We put forward our thoughts on how waste could be managed better in the UK. Copious notes were made by Defra etc and we will see what pops out of the box. For the WTA it was more a case of exposure to government rather than lobbying so I think we held our own. Time will tell. I have followed up the meeting with an email to his under secretary (you know undersecretary to the undersecretary) indicating that it is about time those that could help each other were brought together to produce a plan that might work rather than talking lots of guff about what wont. Watch this space.

ModeratorRe: Feel very let down by ISE
I think the above remarks are totally unjust with regard to ISE, you were given the opportunity to take out the extended cover and You chose not to do so. The guarantee that ISE subsequently gave you was honoured fully.
Having said that you paid someone £160 to repair your machine and this is where you should be directing your complaint not at the ISE brand. However, you also have to shoulder some of the blame, in the 25 years that I have been in this trade, (and bearing (no pun) in mind that you have already experienced a bearing failure) I have never had a washing machines bearings fail without the customer noting that the thing has become noisy. If you chose to ignore this I would suggest that part of the responsibility rests firmly at your doorstep.Dales-Electronic

ModeratorRe: Component ID – Liebherr
As you have suggested this is a two way refrigerant valve which diverts the refrigerant into either the refrigerator or the freezer. Not sure if this one is pulse operated or not until I talk to Liebherr tomorrow but it would be very unusual for both sections of the unit not to work, as when not energized the valve would direct refrigerant the other way. I would suggest it is more likely that you have a shortage of refrigerant or the compressor is faulty.

ModeratorRe: Masterpart website un-usable
NESN have also issued this warning so its not only Masterpart – if you go into compatible mode it should work

ModeratorRe: Merc Vito 113
Know what you mean, I’ve a Movano – had a new engine, god knows how many steering belts & pulleys, drive shafts and now the central locking is playing up. Add that both doors are now dropping – another bit of quality re-badged Renault with rip-off prices. Just got a belt tensioning kit from Poland at £35 the same part from UK Vauxhall £143

Is it the model with the hex bolt or the one with the torx bolt? There are two dependent on model

Nearly always the pcb that is fitted to the diverter valve. You can sometimes get away with changing just the pcb over if not its a full system job.

ModeratorRe: Servis M6725W
This appliance was fitted with a PCB that had to be programmed with software specific to that model number. This was done by the manufacturers service engineer & his PDA. If you fit a PCB from another Servis washing machine with a different model number your appliance will not work correctly. The easy option for you is to send the pcb to ‘EMW Electronic’ who will check out the board and reprogram it as necessary. They are on google if you want to check them out

ModeratorRe: Waste Carriers Licence
What Ken suggested was that sensibly if the item is not waste then it shouldn’t be, this is the basis of our argument with DEFRA but the law states quite clearly that if an item is thought to be waste by the owner then in law it is. Unless the owner is aware that the item is going for refurbishment. So as an example if the item is left outside for collection by the local council then this is WEEE, if however the householder leaves the same item for you to collect on the understanding that you may repair it for resale then it isn’t. I know its warlocks
