Yep, I think so as well. Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say 😉
If nothing comes of it, at least we will have learned a few things along the way ready for the next time.
I think Merloni fully realise the volume of traffic and engineering capability that UKW has looking in every day, they did use the directories to contact independants direct after all.
IMHO, I would imagine that is the way they want to go anyway, but due to the crap package on offer at the time, most refused to take them up on it. So, at the same time CDSL knock them back due to no long term commitment (good for them), ISDAL offer a package, then NESN undercut them by £10 a call.
So, let’s open the door for communication again, the offer was there from the outset of the advertising campaign that started in Sheffield, as mentioned, they sort of took it by using the directories.
For a starter, has anyone got the email address of the guy that sent all the emails to the UKW members ?
Secondly, what do we want from them in the way of:
1/ Rates
2/ Commitment and volume guarantees
3/ Spares supply and mark up
4/ Technical back-up
5/ Contact info (email/fax/phone etc)
6/ Van stocks
7/ Notice period for termination
8/ Reports on BER/refused repairs etc
9/ Exchanges (Installations)Dave.

Definitely no brushes in this model !!
It’s an induction motor, controlled by an electronic module.

ParticipantRe: Maintenance manual for White Knight WK787 dryer?
This is a condenser dryer I think.
If it is, it may not have a little red button but a piece of red rubber that looks like a cover, push the middle of it hard, if you hear a click, that’s it reset.
Apart from that, as Ken says, calling an engineer would be advisable.

Yeah, you may well need both by the sounds of it 🙁
There’s no entries in the directories for Bristol at the moment, I’ll check tommorow at the office to see if I can recommend someone.
We don’t go quite that far up the M5 😉

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint RF61P Unusual T’Stat
Yeah we had exactly the same problem with one of these.
If you fit a VT9 with an insulated capillary and don’t put any excess behind the evaporator it should be OK. Although it took me 2 attempts to get it right.
You could also try a VXO stat which reacts at a lower temperature than a VT9.

ParticipantRe: Renting Appliances
183 appliances rented in 3 months 😯
Please tell us your secret Tony, that is an astonishing number to shift in that time scale, even to the rental market.
One thing I found out when looking in to this, if you rent an appliance, it has absolutley no manufacturers warranty on it at all, the retailer bears the brunt.

ParticipantRe: Manufacturers Parts List CD Roms
Yeah, I installed issue 3 earlier.
Try physically ordering a manual for an Indesit W123UK (not that I want one, I was just testing) by hitting required and see what happens. If you don’t have a GDA account you won’t normally use that funcion, just the part number identification.

Helen, details for you:
Element – £26.92
Thermostat – £30.92Both inc VAT, add £4.50 to cover postage.
Let us know what the sypmtoms are, if the fan is running with no heat it will be the element generally, thermostat failure will normally allow the oven to overheat. Sometimes though the element (if it shorts) can cause the thermstat to fail at the same time.
As you say, ask an engineer to check for you, have a look in the directories for one in your area, or let us know the postcode, one of the many engineers on UKW should be able to assist.

Indeed it was. Not knowing peoples level of confidence or competence, it’s an easy (ish) way to check for brush wear.

ParticipantRe: ariston awd 12 uk w/d
The Merloni un-translated version :
15=dryer element not working dryer relay on pcb probable
Not to be taken seriously though with the Evolution range, it could be anything as we’ve seen many times in these forums 🙄
The codes are all here for reference:

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Mistral 8496p
Yeah, as Simon says it’s nearly always the evaporator thermistor causing the fan not to run, part number is 2601683.
Sometimes dry joints on the main pcb as well 😉

ParticipantRe: Homark Oven Door
Yep, sorry the description I have is incorrect, it is built in as you rightly say, not many 90cm built in ovens about mind you 😉
Serial number should be around the door, although, if the kitchen is 4 years old then the oven will be at leasy 6 months older than that so it’s almost certainly the earlier version.
The hinges for this version are £13 each inc VAT, plus about £5 postage. Please be aware though, this is a Nardi manufactured oven and the parts can take weeks to arrive 🙁
If you want them ordered, let me know by email and I’ll let you have further details.
Dave.
