ParticipantRe: Fisher and paykel gw708u, error no spin!
Hi slic3
You have got into diagnostics correctly but have looked at all 16 registers in there. The one you need to foucs on is third one down in the list “1000 1000” fault code 136 which is motor stall. Most likely that the main motor control module has failed. This can also be caused by a short on the stator windings.
Just some extra info your machine is telling you from the other 15 registers is, failed on first rise part of cycle, has complted 5043 wash cycles up till failing, Water temp at time of putting into diagnostics was 30 deg C and there is there’s 24 millimeters of water in bottom of bowl.
Hey Penguin45 the info was there the whole time.

ParticipantRe: F&P error code 107
Fault code 131 is an RPS problem so you will have to remove the plastic rotor cap to inspect it on the side of the stator. Look for corrosion on its Printed Circuit Board. The RPS can also cause fault code 107. You will need a dedicated tester to measure the RPS signal out put. The quality of the waveform pattern it generates can’t be measured with a multimeter. In the field I find the Motor Controller dose this job ok without a tester if the restart mode is disabled in Diagnostic mode.
Can’t explain why you have had fault codes 39+40, they aren’t directly related to your other problem.

ParticipantRe: F&P Smartdrive LW085F fault
I wouldn’t recommend bypassing it, as forms part of a safety feature. You can get a replacement from F&P for about $33 incl GST part # P5812.

ParticipantRe: F&P Smartdrive LW085F fault
Hi skelstar
The lid reed switch has failed. You won’t find an error code for this type of fault in the diagnostic mode. To confirm this you need to go back into the diag-mode and get up the Med selection on spin speed. The second from the left green LED should only be lit if the lid is up. If this same LED is on with the lid is down then the lid reed switch has gone open circuit.
The switch is located under the front right side of the plastic top deck. Can access by removing the two front screws under the lid. Then lift up the top deck.

ParticipantRe: F&P 703, grinding sounds and electrical burnt smell
Hi
The 2 electrical parts that generally cause a burnt smell are the pump coil or the stator windings.
You need to check the resistance of each. For the pump it should be no less than 33 ohms at the terminals (pump cold). The stator requires 2 separate measurements. 1st is resistance between phases and should be no less than 12.2 ohms (measure directly on stator terminals). 2nd requires the removal of the star connection point and insulation resistance measurement of >5 Meg ohms between phases.
Question for you is had the bearing failed before you replaced it? Reason I ask is there is a lip half way down the shaft that can wear if the bearing fails. Another factor that can cause problems is the floating clutch splines. The driven spline has a metal washer to allow a fine clearance. If worn or missing the inner bowl will rub against the bottom of the outer bowl.
If you are going to change the stator and/or rotor on the same machine there is no need to carry out a resize on the motor controller. Motor is universal unit used on all 3 size machines made by F&P. The resize setting is only required if you put a replacement motor controller from a different size machine into your 7kg (703) machine.
Hope the above has been of some help to you.

ParticipantRe: Error codes with F&P kelvinator smart drive 058
Hi
The error code of “0 0 0 0 1 0 1 1” read off the wash progress LEDS is fault code 11 “Pressure Sensor Fault”. If you’re stating the main motor behaves erratically then I suspect that the motor controller (yellow main board) is causing the problem.
Do you live in Auckland? If so give me a call on 9481319 and I may be able to help you out.
The later modes you have tried wil be of no use to you in this case.

ParticipantRe: F+P Smartdrive 501 – error code 00010000 – spin problem
Hi
The error code you are getting at the spin part of the cycle on the GW501 could be masking the true fault code. I specialise in the repair of Fisher & Paykel Smart Drive machines including servicing my own computer modules.
The only way you can be shore that you are getting the correct fault code you need to get in the diagnostic mode that Penguin45 has posted a sticky on at the top of this forum.
If the fault code is 16 like Penguin45 has stated then is a comms problem between the display and the motor control module.
But if the version of software/firmware in display isn’t lined up with version in the motor controller then the universal error code displayed is 16 at the time of failing. You then need to go into the diagnostic mode to recover the actual fault code.

ParticipantRe: Fisher & Paykel MW051-U – 00001010 fault code help
Penguin if you’re refering to the phase 1-5 fault code 10 “00001010” then F&P have made an error relating to this particular fault code. The MW051 is a phase 2 machine with a blue motor controller. No mater what machine the motor controller is installed into LW015, MW051 or GW501 the thermistor is still used to measure the water temperature by the micro.
Fault code 10 “00001010” can’t be generated by a “Phase 5” motor controller in a LW095 or MW059 machine as they don’t have a thermistor installed. This fault code is valid for “Phase 5” motor controller in a GW machine as it has a thermistor installed.

ParticipantRe: fisher paykel gw608 where is the fuse?
The pump “only forms” part of the power supply circuit for a series 9/10 (phase 5) grey in colour motor controllers installed in models LW095, MW059, GW509, IW509, GW609, GW709 etc.
The model referred to in this post is a GW608 which is a series 8 machine (phase 4).

ParticipantRe: Fisher and Paykel Clothes Washer – 00110010 error
This is only reference material for those who wish to read it..
If it’s fault code 50 (00110010) this is a failure if the hot water valve or related drive circuitry in the motor control unit. This fault code can activate in the diagnostic mode on phase 5 units (also applies on phase 6 & 7 units). This is due to how the water valve is controlled and doesn’t work the same way as phase 1-4 units.
My bet is that it’s a faulty motor control unit.
Something to try in this situation is disconnect the cold valve and check the the fault changes to 49 (00110001). This should indicate that the motor control module can pick a state change.

ParticipantRe: Smartdrive GW500B-K not getting past first rinse
No need to respond to this enquiry anymore, as I’ve solved the fault myself. Was a problem with the Display module daughter board which contains the pump switch + water level sensor circuitry.

ParticipantRe: Fault code 16 on F&P GW500-F
Hi Penguin45
Definitely added up LED’s right to left, so 16 (00010000) was the code being displayed.
Have now found the fault on the display PCB. It was Q403 a BC547C NPN transistor labelled as Q403. The Emitter to Base junction had gone open circuit. Had a spare device on hand, replaced it and the washing machine is now working fine 🙂
This device is located next the 12 way connector which provides the main comms link to the motor controller. Form what I can work out this fault code 16 was indicating some form of comms error between the Display board and the Motor controller.
Thanks for all your help.

ParticipantRe: Fault code 16 on F&P GW500-F
Hi Penguin45
Thanks for your quick response. Have already tried what you pasted in the sticky. I’m just indicating exactly when this code 16 comes up once power is applied to the machine. Can put it into the diagnostic mode and after about 20 seconds it will indicate this same code when in that state. If you try to initiate the wash sequence immediately after power up, it will activate the water valve(s), but no action from the motor… Then the same fault code appears shortly there after. So same result no matter what one tries. Is 16 (00010000) valid fault code?

ParticipantRe: GW603 machine size setting
Hi
If you live in Auckland you can get 2x 6005 bearings + seal from a company Bearing Wholesale Ltd 95 Morrin Rd for about $15 (cash sale). The seal needs to be replaced once removed.
Try removing the shaft to check the bearings independently. If the bottom bearing is the only one gone it’s an easy job no seal to replace. Also check that the shaft is clean at the point where it makes contact with the seal, as grit can work its way into this area causing seal failure.
If you don’t live in Auckland try your local bearing supplier, as there’s a good chance they may sock the bearings and maybe the seal.

ParticipantRe: Fault code 32 on F&P GW501-F
Hi
Thanks for your prompt reply. This same fault code came up on 2 different motor controllers. Did find the main stator was loose on it’s mounting. Tightened it up and no more fault codes. So not sure how the pump error came up at the same time?
