ModeratorWhy not put a 60cm hob in there that way you’ll have 90cm for prepping. If you want the extra space I would cover the worktop with something like a worktop saver or two. What happens if you want to use the hob at the same time?

ModeratorOn the Miele website it does say that the G 5210 SC machine is 60cm wide and from 81cm high which implies that the machine can be used without the worktop lid. I would check with Miele as to whether or not it requires a height reduction plate which is just a couple of mm thick. Don’t want you invalidating the warranty

ModeratorTrouble is you need a washing machine so you have to take a punt and like everything these days there is always an element of risk.
On a positive note, if you look after your appliances they will look after you 😀

ModeratorThere is a thread here from a little while ago. I think with the way the world is at the moment that a machine with a good guarantee is the way to go.
Now there is the Ebac range which have a 7 year warranty, only thing is not a lot is known about the brand and so far only available via a few outlets.
Alternatives? Bosch or AEG.

ModeratorProblem you have is if you take Miele out of the equation there is not a left!!
The only way currently for an extended guarantee on Miele is to buy an extra 3 years these can be bought quite easily from different sources. Alternatively as Iadom suggested replace it with a another AEG from John Lewis with same two year warranty that Miele are offering. Will two AEG’s outlast one Miele on cost? I think yes but that’s just my opinion, It’s a gamble and a numbers game.
As for the other brands out there like Hotpoint, Hoover etc they won’t come anywhere near the other two already mentioned.

Moderatorb4u2 wrote:I especially bought myself a miele fridge freezer and was very disappointed when found out that they are made by liebherr. Scam what’s the point and purposes of them putting their name on an appliance they don’t actually make? Also what justifies massive price increase just because it says Miele on?
I even sent a whole long email to Miele about my disappointment complaining about it.As I always tell my customers, research, research and research some more. Visit forums like these and ask questions.
At the end of the day you have an appliance that is made by the best refrigeration manufacturer on the planet. You may have paid more for the “Miele” name but rest assured you have a quality product.Don

ModeratorI have always been a great fan of Bosch and Neff. I have to admit in the last twenty years the number of times I have been asked for AEG products you could count on one hand if that’s anything to go by the brand is still very small compared to most names. AEG is mainly distributed through John Lewis and some independents while Bosch etc is more widespread.
Very little to choose between your choices to be fair, but Bosch still wins for me.

ModeratorI would go with Plus as it has the bio fresh cooling. Most other things are just cosmetic or aesthetics.

A little insider info 😉September 12, 2022 at 11:51 am in reply to: Fridge freezer recommendations – Liebherr still recommended? #483601don
ModeratorNew models are usually released in the spring, in recent years the differences have been very small. It may be a change of colour somewhere or a different shape of bin or shelf. Others may switch factory for a model due to production cost, the list goes on!!
Manufacturers do have a legal responsibility to maintain spares for it’s useful life so you have no concern there. If you get to over ten years though spares could become more difficult to obtain as it would be deemed to old.
Like I always say to customers ” whatever you buy today will be more than likely replaced with a new variant in a year.”

ModeratorThe “budget” Liebherr machines are still better than the likes of Bosch etc. I like the Plus and Prime ranges as they have features and benefits I personally like.
Energy labelling on most catergories was reviewed and came into force as of April last year so what was a A became a C or D depending on how many + symbols were after it. By regrading it will hopefully encourage manufacturers to strive to get higher in the longer term towards the coveted A bracket.

ModeratorOne of the most important things is to follow the care labels as it’s cheaper to wash correctly than to replace what could have been an expensive item. Yes low temperature washes are energy saving, don’t overdose on powder or fabric conditioner and a yes, perform a maintenancve wash regularly.
There is a whole load of info here which may help.

ModeratorWell, I reckon about 20 years old.
My colleague iadom is a retired Creda Hotpoint engineer who may have more of an idea. I have tagged him so will see what he comes up with.
