Re: Any reccomendations for a tumble dryer??

Bosch make excellent appliances generally, however the tumble dryers seem to let them down, the quality just doesn`t seem to be the same as their other product ranges.

The Whirlpool dryers are a well built sturdy machine and parts prices are about on par with Bosch. Only real difference is the Bosch will have a two year warranty as opposed to the one year on Whirlpool.

However, both are still miles better than the H`s you listed.

mstar wrote:anyone out of the list i gave which would be best for reliability for a condeser type?

I would say Whirlpool, Bosch, Hotpoint and Hoover in that order.

mstar wrote:never heard of whiteknight?? is that a good brand? as reliability is important.

White Knight dryers are made by Crosslee they also produce for other names as well. Our engineers here like them as they are easier to repair than most and the cost of spares is reasonable. A good all round honest range of machines.

    Hi maroon18

Unfortunately we are unable to advise on the repair of gas appliances.

A full explanation can be found here. You could try the “find an engineer” link in your post, you never know there may be one near you.

    Hi mstar

Vented dryers are more reliable as they have less tech inside. This is okay if you provision for venting the steam away.

On the other hand a condenser dryer needs no venting, trick with these is to clean the filters and condenser after each use.

There is quite a lot more info in our Tumble dryer buying guide which may help.

    Hi Martin

Reading between the lines I reckon Mick thought he was asking you to mail him your D.A.T. info, somehow he posted to the wrong thread. Shame his email address isn`t on his profile page.

Can one of the mod`s split this thread please.

    Hi dest

There is only one choice really it has to be Liebherr. Highly regarded by the trade as being a well built appliance which looks good and has good customer service. Anything else would be a compromise IMO.

    Hi Rob

Not a lot to choose from I`m afraid, best I can come up with is De Dietrich they use the grill element with the spit. From what I can tell from the brochure about 5 models have the spit function. All the other manufacturers I checked all cycle the grill element and fan to reach the same effect.
