    Re: 0800 Repair

It seems you are on a mission ade, its a shame really as when i raised concerns about membership to the WTA, i was slapped down and told because of funds and time restraints it wasnt possible to do the things taht i thought should have been done before membership being granted, yet here you are as a WTA council member picking holes in the DASA membership criteria, there is an old saying that people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones.

Does it matter Ade, as you said earlier DASA wouldnt do much anyway, just a phone call to say please sort it out.

    Re: Risk Assessments

A few years ago a sold some appliances to a HSE officer and he then came back a week later in his official capacitor and checked my business over, i had to implement lots of things that he said needed doing and i did others that he suggested were best practice. He was worth his weight in gold as he dosnt cost your business anything for an inspection and he will advise you for free on all you need to know, ring the HSE and get one of their officers round and ask his advise, when you act on his advise you wont come unstuck!

If you sold it over the phone, you should abide by distant selling laws. Best have a read

Re: where has all the work gone

Example of a sale last week:-
I sell a customer a Maytag side by side in Gloss Black, its on display and i want to get rid of it so customer buys it at £999. I tell her i only send one man on the delivery and she needs to make sure there is an able bodied person at her house to help when my man arrives with the f/f.This i explain will be included in the price and its to a ground floor excessible room as we use a tri wheel sack truck to move the f/f, okay she says.
Well the kitchen fitter whos doing work at her house calls in and buys worktops for this customers kitchen(recommended by this customer, so added sale #1), ordered for him and he collects a few days later and mentions to me that the house is an upside down house, kitchen on first floor, no worries i thought as she has been told we do ground floor delivery only.

Customer comes in the next day and she buys new sink and tap because the kitchen fitter said to buy them from me as they were better than the ones he gets from Howdens( added sale #2), i ask her about delivery and then she tells me wants f/f upstairs! I decide that as her original sale has given me additional sales we would deliver it up the stairs, this we duely did and whilst i was there i heard the washing machine was a bit noisy and sold her a new Miele washing machine(added sale #3)
This customer i will add was a pain in the backside, ecomomical with the truth, wanting discounts and everything else, but i kept with it and it turned in to a right good earner and the kitchen fitter has sent a customer up to me who has bought appliances for their new kitchen.
My point is customer is KING and no matter how much they muck you about just get the sale and when your next on holiday you can reflect on that cool glass of beer as being the one that customer paid for, satisfaction!

They are demanding, but if you dont like the heat stay out the kitchen as they say. I dont mind customers constantly ringing up, it keeps me in their mind all the time and they do in my opinion generate more sales for you, any recomendation is better than none at all. The customer in my mind is KING and what ever they want i will do if it generates a sale, add ons always increase the price and i have no problem wheather they think i am a pushover or not, i set the prices at the end of the day.

Re: where has all the work gone

Hi all, we are pretty quiet down here too, May has been a non starter for repairs and sales. We have been hit by a local 6 store company going bust and the reciever flooding the local market with heavily discounted appliances, they have finally shut the doors so i am hoping we will get more footfall in the store which will turn in to sales.

I have to say that i wont turn any sale away even if they have checked my prices against the internet, as a salesman i want them to buy from me and not the internet or anywhere else and if i have to suck their arse i will do it to get the sale, once the sale is achieved he will hopefully tell his friends and family not to bother looking elsewhere and come straight to us.
I wont cut my nose off to spite my face and this business is all about the customers, with out them you dont have a business.

I have had a couple come through from SES in Studley. Looks like they are mostly repairing makes with their own engineers, except in areas of less population.Decent pay rates.
