    Re: BF41 Dishwasher (GDA)

Spray arm is a new one that came with the filter kit and is OK so I’m going to go for the door seal.
This one is starting to get expensive! 🙁

Making progress with this one Dave ,thanks for the help.
Now that I’ve got it going the door seal is leaking!
I have got the Hotpoint part number but I can’t find the Brandt equivalent to compare prices.
    Can you assist?

If you don,t approve of oil companies why not invest in an old LDV and run it on filtered chip shop oil. 😆

Thanks Dave that sounds like the most likely culprit.
The main filter has also curled up at the edges and is letting the cr4p through.
Do you have this part number to hand.
    Many thanks

Check NTC and connections to it.Also you didn’t say if the machine was showing a fault code. all of the Whirlpool ones are listed on this site.

You can check the condition of the ‘O’ ring seal without too much dismantling.Just take off the plinth panel and have a poke around the fan housing. The seal is grey foam compound and tends to come apart at the glued joint
Replacement is done with the drum & motor out then ease the new seal into place.
Is there a lot of fluff inside the cabinet? The drum seals can come unglued and let moist air escape.
Easy to fit but expensive at about £30 each 🙁

    Good luck

Prices for spares for the 9Kg front loader are OTT.
I find the top loaders to be more forgiving when put to heavy use and the spares are more affordable.

The only code I know for this model is E4 which is water in the base.
I put a tube in and syphoned it out 💡 as its a b****r to get into.

Don’t confuse the flow meter with the diaphragm switch. The flow meter doesn’t block up with cr4p as it is in the metering tank and measures clean water.
F7 can be caused by a very slow fill but is usually the contacts on either the flow meter or module. If the flow meter is defective it is integral to the metering tank but you can just fit the little card with the reed switch on if you have one(not available separately 🙁 )

I have another one 481236158126 on my van which is a different price again. I usually fit whatever I have in stock as they all look the same.
There are a few whirlpool parts which are same or similar at vastly different prices especially for the american top loaders.
(don’t want to give out numbers here though cos you never know who reads this) 😉

    Re: Squeeking WP Washer

I have done quite a few of these. The problem appears to be the shaft seal has no grease on it.
If you catch the problem early enough it can be fixed by injecting grease into the bearing hub via the drain hole at the back of the tub behind the pulley.
I couldn’t find a suitable grease gun so I made my own from an empty mastic cartridge filled with grease and then pumped the hub full of it.
It doesn’t always work as it depends on how bad it has got but its worth a try as it is a lot easier than getting the tub out.

    Re: A “Call out” charge

I have this discussion almost every day with someone on the phone and my tactic is to explain that the no callout/ free estimate guy will quote for a cheap repair to get the work but wont point out all the faults whereas I will tell the full story but there will be a charge.
Some folks just say no thanks and hang up but I do convert a few and although I am not busy I am making money.
