ParticipantRe: Most ridiculous part price
apologies if this has already been posted, but i haven’t read through the whole thread, but getting back to most ridiculous part price, how about:-

this game really naffs me off sometimes 😡ELDAR59
ParticipantRe: Servis door handle kit
hi dave, if you want exact price, i’ll look it up for you, but they are roughly £25+.
it really is an unbelievable price and, if my memory is correct, they went up suddenly a few months ago from round about the £6 mark.

ParticipantRe: LG Toploader WFT1031TP
hi guys, experienced this once myself.
you need a ‘ball sensor’.
we fitted the ball sensor and the appliance worked after previously showing us 6e or be.
lg technical had no idea about this when we contacted them, instead we found the information from the customer’s handbook!

ParticipantRe: Diplomat oven user manual – HELP NEEDED!
you’re probably right in as much as you’ve selected the timer. you need to put the oven into manual mode (usually indicated by a hand symbol).
not sure of this model, but it can’t be too hard to de-select the timer.
look out for the hand symbol in the little window.
if you still get no joy, no doubt someone on here will be familiar with the model.
good luck.ELDAR59

ParticipantRe: Norfrost Twin Tub
hi dave, yes we’ve fitted quite a few of these.
i’m not sure of the internals of the motor, but i think from memory, they are hard to turn.
the tricky part of the job is releasing the drum from the motor.
you may need a long drift and a piece of wood with a hole in the centre, that fits under the rim of the drum.
the drift goes through the centre of the wood and against the the motor shaft.
obviously unscrew the nut and then hit the drift whilst at the same time pulling hard on the piece of wood.
a useful contact at norfrost is robert miller, 01847 821333
hope this is of some use to you.

alex i’m afraid we’ve not found that to be the case. whilst i agree that technical help from graham is excellent, in our limited experience with them, we’ve found payment of our invoices to be a problem.
i also agree about the ‘niceness’ that’s been talked about on this board. how many of us would stand for late payment and poor rates if they were surly and rude?

ParticipantRe: Anglo Iberian
we’re another firm not too pleased with ais.
we’re awaiting payment on invoices that were submitted ages ago.
can’t say too much, if they read this board, they’ll realise who we are.
then again, do we really need this sort of work?

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
You’ve just arrived at the call, she asks if I would like a cup of tea? You say “No thanks, just had one!” (your in a hurry, your concern is fixing the fault on the machine then off to the next job!)
or the house is absolutely minging and there’s NO WAY you’d consider a cup of tea!

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
i hate it when appliances are integrated in such a way that makes them nigh on impossible to access. examples such as tiling upto a washer that is virtually flush with the worktop, or not using long enough waste and fill pipes.
another pet hate, especially when you’ve got a particularly heavy day on, is when you ask the customer for a brief fault description and they launch into a virtual life story.
it quite often goes something like this.me: “what’s the fault with the machine?”
customer: “well it started last wednesday, or was it tuesday? no no, it must have been wednesday, because i’d just put the bins out when i noticed, no, in fact my husband noticed first, a pool of water on the floor. at first we thought it was the dog, because we’ve just had her to the vets for a water works problem. she’d just been to the vets before for something else too, only two weeks earlier, she’s costing us a fortune at the moment.”
and you’re stood their thinking for goodness sake missus just f*****g tell me what’s wrong!!
i’m sure we’ve all been there. 😆 😆 😆ELDAR59
ParticipantRe: It is that time of year
hi all, first time poster on the forum, having joined up a couple of weeks ago, so what better way to post than to wish everybody all the very best for christmas and the new year.
also congratulations to everybody concerned for making this site what it is.
it’s certainly one of the first places i visit when i log on now and it provides a very useful meeting place for like minded people at the sharp end of the job, to exchange banter, have a moan, offer help and advice etc.
it’s just what the trade needed and gives members of the trade opportunity to converse with others, that would only normally occur when on training courses.
keep up the good work, please!cheers.
