the only diagram i have shows where the cap goes in the circuit but no pics of the actual connection

your original problem sounds like a control board and i think its an easy fix but would have to see a decant pic of it

first you need to check the two thermostats on the top of the heater box and the element for continuity using a multimeter

no the part number is different so it will possibly have different software on it

it may work if you want to take a risk but programme profiles may differ as maybe the sofware feed to the display

have had that before. have had peoples warranty run out and they have not used the appliance

well all the spares came from the crosslee factory in Hudderfield. if you need spares now you just have to hope someone has stock or you can find a used spare on ebay.
other bad news is as far as i know they were the only manufacturer of gas domestic dryers

well 2 bad news results here

1 you need a gas safe engineer as we cant give advise an gas appliance for legal and safety reasons. Although you could have a close look at air flow making sure all filters are clear ( hold it up to the light ) and ducts are not blocked

2 white knight have ceased production in this country so spares availability is almost zero

ok so you brok the stat

disconnect the other wire, insulate it
then turn on and see if fan running

if no its just the stat you have broken and you need a new one

ok from what i can see the wiring is ok

first thing to try
the thermostat to the right of element on the pics. Disconnect one wire and tape it up to stop shorting error
then turn on and see if fan runs and let me know
