Good point Martin, I was of course presuming that you (Dop) have checked for leaks especially from under the heater. Take a very close look at the pcb triacs for damage to the black top. The boards almost always fail due to a short in another part of the machine, apart from the heater relay joint failing of course.

I were you, I would spend my time finding someone with experience of working on these difficult little beggars, rather than stripping it down yourself.

Are you sure about the Enr? Is it perhaps a ‘2’ after the ‘x’? If so the module is PN 492685 and it has either failed with a burnt out heater relay or short in the dispenser actuator. Look closely at the board and the dispenser.

Would QER or EMW be able to program it?

Try Adrian Flux, they are brokers that have proved invaluable at times when finding cover for young drivers. Think my daughter is with Sheila’s Wheels at the moment. Also putting a parent on with a clean record on as a named drive can often reduce the premium.

DO NOT buy her a car and insure it in your name with her as a named driver. If she has a bump it will go very pear-shaped.

When choosing what type of car to buy, your number one consideration should be the cost of insurance.

    OR try this:-

First identify the sensor leads on the module, usually either a three pin or a four pin connector.

If four pin, locate the twin cable connected to terminal 1 & 3 cut off sensor cable about 2in from module and join together effectivly shorting out terminals 1 & 3 on the module connector.

If three pin locate sensor lead connected to terminals 1 & 2 and do as above. TAKE CARE to not disturb the other sensor lead which is also connected to terminal 1.

Terminal numbers are moulded into the white moulding of the connector plug.

Not usually the switch, but the centrifugle weight assembly in the motor getting stuck – will probably need a new motor.

The faulty NTC is foamed in. I came across one last year. You can’t get to the one on the evaporator. Bosch didn’t do a repair kit at the time. They do list a Lining Repair Kit, but that just consists of sheets of sticky back plastic. Bosch replaced the fridge/freezer for the customer as the Appliance Care chappie said it could not be repaied.

The first computer I used was an un-programmed PDP11 chocolate teapot. I took a couple of hours of loading via it’s dip switches, to get it to perform the simplest of tasks. It’s nice to know that, in an age of rapid advancement, somethings haven’t changed, or even gone backwards!

Try not to worry too much when she is still not home at 2am after driving her friends to a party like I used to do. And don’t say she can drive her Mother’s BMW Z3 2.9L if she can afford the insurance like I did!
