If you use a long core drill carefully, you maybe able to drill from the inside, presuming the wall is not rendered. Then let down a piece of rope through the hole and attach the outside part of the vent kit to it. Put some grip fill round the cover and pull it up the wall. Use your hand through the wall to pull it into its final position. I have used this method with success between houses built close together to be able to gain access.

Take a careful look at the thin blue Ntc wires where they are cable tied to the cabinet at the top. I have found a few have broken by the tie. Give then a little tug – they may well be held in place by the plastic only with all the copper conductors snapped inside.

Customers tell me it is almost impossible to get away without being pressured into signing up to Dom & Gen cover and a life time supply of formic acid. Mustn’t grumble, just pushes more customers my way.

There is probably a partial blockage between the collection chamber to the rear of the condenser and the water container. This causes condensed water to travel along into the rear fan. Strip it all down giving it a good clean, perhaps fitting a shaft and seal kit as you go

I replaced a bearing and drum support on an 18580. Still going strong with it’s original Tompson pump with the clear cover. I’ve never been so busy repairing antiques. Fixed a lid switch on a 1509 top loader the other week. No leak from the pump and passed the PAT test with flying colours.

I presume it is fitted with an Askol wash pump in which case you will probably need a wash pump 481290508661. Not cheap!

The fuzzy logic maybe to blame. May right itself with new brushes or motor.

Just to let you know how my customer with a Zanussi motor fault got on after I told her to raise the issue with Currys. This was her reply:-

“I raised this as an out of guarantee claim with Currys. I emailed them your quote and they responded saying it was uneconomical to repair and offered me about £230 (if I remember correctly) which I wasn’t happy with, so they raised it to maybe £250. I originally paid £410 for the machine and argued that I would expect it to last 7 years, and as it had only lasted 2 years I was looking for about £280/£290 refund (approx 5/7 of the original price). They agreed a refund of £280 in Curry’s vouchers which I was happy to accept. (In the end they gave me a direct refund to my bank account as this was just after the Croydon riots and I wasn’t prepared to go into Croydon to buy a new machine.)
Overall I think Curry’s dealt with me fairly, they are well aware of their responsibilities under the Sale of Goods Act.
Thanks for your help in this matter.”

I looked at one yesterday, doing the exact same thing, I suspect the left hand power switch as one of the contacts dropped out as I tapped the front panel. This oven has been playing up for nearly a year now and has to be reset almost constantly. My customer had another engineer out when the fault first happened, but he said he could not find the fault as didn’t occur while he was there. I guess I found it more readily as the contact has deteriorated since then.

I’m having trouble locating the part. On Elux’s site it states on the explosion view that the switch comes complete with the front panel and knobs, item 7, but this is not listed. You got any ideas as to what has happened to the panel?

It’s a Beko. Check the output from the pcb. I think the output to the pump is on the side on its own. Check door wiring as well.

Bear in mind the if the insulation is below 7Mohm (@500v) through the dryer heaters, wash heater or motor – this can present random errors!
